Of course, people quickly noticed that one can shoulder it like a stock. A rifle with a barrel under 16 inches in length is restricted and known as a short barreled rifle (SBR). There was some controversy at first, as it was assumed that shouldering that brace would constitute the illegal use of an unregistered SBR. However, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives ruled that even with the brace, the gun is still classified as a pistol; one can legally shoulder the brace like a stock.
