The whole deal with the friend zone I hate is, people announce it as some kind of anomaly. It means you got rejected by an individual and, either wants to emphasize that even though the individual rejected and did not requite your love, does not mean to reject your friendship as it is also an essential thing to be reciprocated. You are only friends with a friend, not a stranger. And the other thing, they might just have met you, and you pronouncing your love may have sparked their intrigue, but not total approval. So, they might want to just, get to know you one as a friend first. It is a common thing for people to end up courting people within their circle of friends. And some take that as a normality. A... precaution if you will. You can get out of this "Zone" by saying, "Hey, I don't like you rejecting my love and I no longer want to be your friend." (Which is weird to suddenly do. it implies you were their for their love and not to give them yours as well. Strange.)
