@riley I haven't seen a lot of it, so I could be totally off the ball here, but I found one of the most overt themes presented early on is this substantiation of embracing femininity, so I figure the portrayal of the female figure was supposed to articulate that in some way. I should stress it definitely felt kind of indulgent to me in places though, but I'd have to watch more of the show before I'd consider it explicitly needless.
