  1. @metaltao That's a good question! I guess traditionally metal music has been very guitar driven, so listening to a metal song where guitar isn't playing the lead can be kind of jarring! Feel is important too, but I wouldn't ever say its the genre's bread and butter, I think it's more of just a pattern within some inherent traits of the genre that cause lots of it to sound angry, abrasive, desolate, etc. The thing about feel is it differs even from subgenre to subgenre, like a death metal record will have a totally different feel to a post metal record. I'd say the real points here indicative of discussing what to call Liturgy's music, especially on their most recent record, lie in the subtle stylistic traits of the composition and performance. There a ton of tremolo picked guitars, large atmospheric chordal parts (played on the keys and strings), short bursts of blast beats on the drums, and there is a lot of treble, all of which are loose genre characteristics of black metal.
