My uncle makes pretty good money, and says the work isn't too bad, driving a cargo train (I always forget if he's the Engineer or the Conductor, and what the difference is). But the scheduling is nonsense! You have all these "windows," and need to keep checking online, and even when you're off you're on-call and need to respond within like 10 minutes... Sure, he claimed guys my age (at the time) were making a million a year, but screw that! My time is mine, man. And if I'm off the clock, I'm not likely to be *fit* to get called to drive a train, man... heh
