  1. Oh great, an awful homework filled week of not enough sleep, and on my Friday I get sick. Wonderful.

  2. !vgp Also excited for DCUO going free-to-play on Wednesday. I know a guy who knows a guy, so I got in on the early, early closed friends-and-family beta, and I absolutely loved it, but then the beta ended and I had no money with which to subscribe.

    • Also, @mayhapmurklins: Sorry if I've been untalkative (textative?) lately. I found out that my phone plan doesn't actually cover texting, which is.. stupid and expensive. Also, the whole thing where I was sick, and then I was moving, and now I'm getting ready for midterms. Plus the thing where you were out of town for two meetups and then I was busy moving for the one after that. At any rate, I've got a new, much less stupid phone plan now, but it doesn't take effect until the end of the month. In the meantime, hopefully I'll see you guys at the meetup this weekend?

      • @puzzlemint I was hoping to go this weekend, but I've been having this unfortunate schedule where I end up going home every couple weeks, and it's always the meetup weeks. This weekend my auntie is coming to visit us, so I can't go to this meetup either. I'm hoping to get this pattern to shift somehow so I can make it to them again soon. Also, no worries about lack of communication. :) I haven't been talkative either what with school and the fact that I'm really bad at that in the first place. Honestly, about half the time lately I just forget to reply to people if I don't do it right away. (Any lack of making sense in this post I will blame on sleep deprivation. Sorry in advance.)

    • !calgary !college This week in Communications class we're doing impromptu presentations. It's not very impromptu, though. The way we're doing it is that we send our instructor a list of three topics we're willing to talk about, and then a few minutes before our presentation, she chooses one of those three topics and we have to come up with a presentation for it. Though since we already know ahead of time what the possible topics are, it's not that hard to be prepared for them anyways. Like I said, not very impromptu. || So, come friday morning, I'll be doing a presentation on either: Reliability of Wikipedia Articles, Analysis of Series-Parallel Circuits, or My Little Pony. Though our instructor says she has a knack for picking the topic we're least interested in talking about, so I guess it's going to be Wikipedia.

        • !calgarybronies This may sound like it's coming completely out of left field here. But I've got some used RAM sticks after upgrading my own if anypony wants to take 'em off my hands. They're for desktop computers and consist of two 2GB sticks and two 1GB ones. I want practically nothing for 'em as they just take up desk space and gather dust. Let me know if anyone wants 'em!

        • !techponies Overnight, Firefox has mysteriously developed a condition where it works properly for a few minutes, then inexplicably stops responding to middle-clicks until restarted. Since I use middle-click to open new tabs very frequently, this is severely hindering my browsing abilities. I'm disabling add-ons to see if one of them is the cause, but I'm very much open to other suggestions that don't involve switching to another browser.

        • !calgary God, it is so nice to be able to walk to school and back. Granted, it's a 45-minute walk, but as long as the weather's decent, it beats the hell out of any amount of time on the bus.

        • !calgary Well that was an interesting day. When we went to go to the car this morning, the door to the garage was somehow locked. How, no one knows. Neither of us had keys for it, so it could only be locked from the inside. And, neither of us were inside. But the car was inside the garage, and the garage door opener was inside the car. So I had to take a hammer to it and belt the entire doorknob off. Combine that with all the fun of moving, and my arms are going to be sore for a week. And the garage door opener no longer stays inside the car. || Went to the old house to do more cleaning and packing, then headed over to a friend's place for turkey dinner. Just got home and finished unloading the car, now. I still have homework to finish. To say nothing of housework.

        • !calgary Internet finally kicked in. We're mostly moved in. Still got a bunch of stuff to haul next weekend, but everything important is here. Needless to say, I'm not going to make it to the meetup. Still have a good chunk of homework that I haven't even started on. And because my COMP teacher is a crackhead, some of that homework is due on Monday. As in, statutory holiday thanksgiving monday when there's no school, but since all the assignments for COMP are turned in online anyways, that doesn't affect the deadlines. Crackhead.

            • !calgary Thanks, everyone. @vanillabelle The 'plan' was homework and housework, but mom decided on the ride home to stop by Boston Pizza for supper, so now I probably won't have time to do both. Getting ready for the move this weekend has left me a bit behind in my studies. I did a lot of catching up in class today, but I've still got a ways to go before I'm in the clear. Being sick hasn't helped, obviously, but I'm almost better.

          • !calgary Well, we have a place. It's not the place we wanted, and I'm horrendously disappointed about that, but it's a place. We move in on thanksgiving weekend, so if there's a meetup scheduled I don't know if I'll be able to make it. Won't be coming this weekend, either -- my cold has entered the phase where it's mostly constant sinus headache and excessive air pressure in my ears, so.. yeah. Also, my external hard drive appears to be slowly dying. It has all my pony stuff on it, so, this is not good. I may need to go shopping for a new internal.

          • @imjoshdean I'd have far more problems if I switched to Chrome, the version number is meaningless, they ARE minor patches, and the only way I'd have less problems is if I could roll back to FF5 when everything actually WORKED. Installing FF7 somehow COMPLETELY REMOVED AdBlock from my system.

          • So, early in the summer, the Studio B website revealed that it was animating 22 episodes for MLPFIM season 2. This conflicted with other sources saying there would be 24 new episodes. I think it was # who cleared it up, saying that there were 24 episodes, but 2 of them (obviously, The Return of Harmony), had been animated at the end of last season. Since animation is generally the last step in production, I think it's probably safe to say that Return of Harmony was originally meant to serve as a series finale in case the show wasn't renewed. Since it WAS renewed, it became part of season 2 instead. || Now in season 2, the EI logo is conspicuously absent, meaning the show is no longer classed as "edutainment". Since one of the major reasons for that classification was Twilight's moral-of-the-week letters, and those letters have served their purpose story-wise in Return of Harmony, I'm wondering if we've seen the last of "Dear Princess Celestia.."

          • !calgary So on the way back from Didsbury we decided to see how long it would take for us to drive from our (old) house to the Crowfoot C-Train station. It took slightly less than 50 minutes. || The C-Train from Crowfoot to SAIT is about 25-30 minutes. So my total commute time (for the coming week and a half) actually only increased by about 20 minutes. || I reiterate: despite having to drive in from 45 minutes out of town, my commute has only increased by 20 minutes. And THAT is why I hate taking the bus. Glad I only have to do it for two more days.

              • @autumnfrost !calgary Actually we never made it to the Unicorn. Couldn't find a place to park. || And as long as we're apologizing for not feeling well, I'm sorry I bailed on you guys, but between my cold and the fact that mom and I are headed up to Didsbury tomorrow morning to do a bunch of packing for the move, I had been planning on leaving around 8:30-9:00ish anyways, and since we were only like five blocks from my bus stop... || @thetundraterror thanks again for the DS. I played a little bit of Ghost Trick on the bus home. On an actual DS, and not on an emulator. It was awesome.

            • !calgary In other news, it turns out that even if we get the place, we are going to be going back to Didsbury for the first week of October. Mom works in the finance department for a big company, and the first week of October is quarter-end, so she's really not going to have time to move into a new house from a different town; but the following weekend is the Thanksgiving long weekend, which gives us plenty of time to get everything taken care of. || The main point is, for that one week, we're going to have to commute from Didsbury, which is a pain in the apples. It also means we're each stuck with eachother's schedule. So for Monday the 3rd, not only will I be three hours early for class, I'll also be stuck sitting around doing nothing for hours AFTER class, because mom has things to do around town until, like, 9. So, uh, if anyone has nothing better to do on the 3rd and wants to hang out or something, I'd appreciate the company. (On a vaguely-related note, the 4th is my birthday. #)

              • !calgary MPC here, too. || Just got back from seeing potential houses # 4 and 5. Mom and I both agree that if the landlord will have us, # is the one. It's down in Palliser, which is still a long transit trip, but it's just so much nicer than all of the other places we've been.

                  • @starbuck Reviews I've heard were mixed. I don't remember the specifics, but I think it boiled down to "good story, mediocre gameplay". || That said, for $2, it's hard to go wrong. I picked up Saints Row 2 on sale for $3, even though everyone said it was a trainwreck of a console port. I've never had any problems with it, and it's one of my all-time favorite games. !vgp

                • !calgary Just got back from checking out potential new homes # 2 and 3. 2 was pretty much a bust. Aside from generally looking unkept, the kitchen was too small, the garage was WAY too small, there's a giant crabapple tree constantly littering the back yard with crabapples that -I- would have to clean up, and it's generally just not worth the price they're asking. And the worst part is, I can't remember which Final Fantasy game the landlord's ringtone is from, so I've had THAT bugging me for the last 2 and a half hours. # was possibly the best one we've seen so far, but there are two significant issues: the first being that it's way the frig down in Cedarbrae -- granted, it's only a short bus ride to the C-Train, but then it's a LONG C-Train ride (which is still better than the long bus ride to a short train ride I'm dealing with now). The bigger issue, though, is the lack of storage space. There's just not enough room for all our stuff, so we'd have to rent another storage#charlimit

                • !calgary Schedule's been swapped around. We're not doing the "moving crap from town to town" thing until Sunday, so I'll definitely be able to make the meetup. Though, with my wonderful new throat infection, I don't know how long I'll be able to stay, and I'll probably be doing the whole hanging-in-the-back-not-saying-anything thing even more than usual. || @thetundraterror re: the DS. Unless it's a DS Lite, I'll probably be needing the charger, too. Probably goes without saying, but better safe than sorry. || In other news, we went to look at our first potential new home this evening. It's a decent-sized duplex with good neighbours. Rent's a little high, but the big selling point is that it's only 4 blocks from SAIT, which effectively reduces my travel time to and from school to 0. That'll come in real handy when I have to start juggling homework and a part-time job. Still looking into other alternatives, though. We'll be touring some tomorrow morning (after ponies, obviously). chrlmt

                  • !calgary I don't suppose anypony has a spare Nintendo DS laying around they'd be willing to let me borrow.. uh.. indefinitely? Pretty bummed about my own being a write-off, and it's looking increasingly likely that for the next while, my only free time is going to be the breaks between classes. || Also I have like half a dozen DS games that I've only ever been able to play on an emulator. It'd be pretty cool to play them on an actual DS someday.
