  4. Just watched Map of the Sounds of Tokyo, it's been a long, long time since a flick captured my imagination like that. When I watch a move, any movie, I get distracted and my brain wanders, I'll check Twitter, go to Facebook, see who's on MSN, but throughout the entirety of this flick, my attention was rapt. Beautifully shot film, the cinematography was some of the best I've seen, and it's wonderfully unique. A high ranking businessmans daughter passes away, and hires a hitwoman to kill who he blames for her death. It's a lot more than an assassin thriller, it's more an understated drama than it is a thriller. Really good flick, brilliantly shot throughout. If you're a film geek, I do suggest you check it out.

    • I know there's an MLP hockey fic out there, but someone, probably me, should write a hockey fic that reads like actual beer league hockey. Which means lot of cursing, and juvenile behaviour. Pretty much this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THPaWtCm8vw

      • @derpy Just makes you sound like a kid. It's not about 3,000 people dying, yeah more people than that die every day, but it's the fact that so many lives were cut short, and the torture they went through before it happened. Can you even imagine being on one of the higher floors in the WTCs, or being on one of those planes? An organization set out to kill people in large numbers, and make peoples last hours hell, nothing but fear and torment, and that sucks, that's horrible. The tragedy isn't lives lost, people die all the time. The tragedy is how those lives were lost.

        • Most of us have computers that can emulate any console game that came out before the PS2 and XBox generation, and play any PC game that came out before 2004, yet almost all of us (myself included), will sit in front of our monitors, and think 'Huh. I don't have any games I feel like playing'.

        • When someone is given admin or moderation rights on the internet, it's like giving someone a stick when everyone else doesn't have a stick, and when given a stick, people usually do one of three things; They get all lawful good on your dole and think 'I am the stickholder and I was given this stick to uphold the rules of this forum/IRC/photo board! It is my duty to protect this IPs valour!'. Other people Will go 'Oh, cool. I have a stick. This will be handy for subduing hostile persons and will provide support when I walk up a hill'. The most common reaction, however is 'Whoa! I have a stick! I have an advantage over other people, I will use this to uphold my LAW!', then they walk around with the stick held high, brandishing it in front of people, and using it to enforce their own personal bias. It's the primary reason I'm not active on a lot of forums.

        • Juts discovered this band a few days ago, they're pretty brilliant. Gypsy folk from the states, they tour nationwide, too. I'd love to do photography at one of their shows; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFeo_W7dStY

          • One of my favourite bands, Caravan of Thieves is swinging through my town in November. They're popular, but they're not like, on mainstream radio. They tour up and down the east coast, occasionally heading out west, they make the music thing work, but they're not like, famous. I really want to ask them if, before their set, they'd let me treat them to dinner, because I would love to chill with them and get some awesome candid pictures of my favourite band around town and at dinner. Worst thing that happens is they say no, best thing that happens is they like my pictures and ask to license them.

          • @mrn4rmn4rm It's not going to be named The Octavia-Scratch Trio, but when I do get another piano trio together, we'll definitely be playing an MLP tune or two. I wrote most of the arranges for my last piano trio, and I doubt things will be changing in my next one. Thinking about the name, maybe I could get the other members to agree to the name 'The Octavia-Mowinckel Trio'. Mowinckel's my last name, so, y'know.

                • The problem with podcasts is people have bad voices, people have crappy microphones, people don't understand recording levels, and people don't understand compression. This is why there are only like five podcasts on the internet that are worth listening to.
