  1. @starshine LOWER! Lower densities of film grain! High iso film has a lower density of film grain than a low iso film. It's backward like that.

  2. @starshine I shoot black and white, so if you want real black and white, it's film or bust. You can shoot black and white with a digital camera at 3200 iso, but it's not the same, you can't see the higher densities of film grain with a digital censor. Plus developing anomalies can really add something else to a shot. This picture wouldn't be the same if it weren't for that imperfection by the cigarette. I like shooting film, in full manual, it makes you think about your shot, taking a picture becomes an event, it feels more tangible because it's not expendable. But it's not uncommon that I wish I had a digital camera, 'cause if I'm in street photography mode, I can burn through an entire roll of film in ten minutes, and film is expensive, about $10 a roll, then I have to develop it. It's time like those where digital has it's advantages. What do you like to shoot? People, things, places? http://ur1.ca/4x7qc

  3. @starshine 90% of the time. My only digital camera is a Canon Powershot A530, it's only got 5.1MP, but it can take some good pictures, observe; http://www.doctormowinckel.com/pictures/tyrol_dog_tags.jpg However, my go-to cameras are my Minolta X-700, and Minolta X-370. All the pictures on my site, http://http://www.photo.doctormowinckel.com/ were taken with my Minoltas.

  4. @miloth You can change your keyboard layout on a per program basis. Like, if your default input in English, and you set Notepad to let's say German, you'll be using Notepad with the German keyboard layout, and English for everything else. If there's keyboard icon by or in your taskbar, click it and it should say something like 'EN', an 'NO', or whatever input it's somehow set itself to.

  5. @miloth Did you change your language layout? In control panel, go to region and language, keyboard and languages, and click change keyboard.

  7. @redenchilada I would imagine that the only type of Sonic fanfics are bad fanfics. I don't read any fics, myself. There's a reason some people are paid to write, and a reason why people who aren't paid to write aren't paid to write.

  8. People seem to like this picture I took but I don't. http://www.doctormowinckel.com/pictures/photomragraphones/bw/grainy_lady_with_film_streak_3.jpg I was shooting in aperture priority mode, and the shutter overcompensated when she lit her cigarette, and the shutter speed was too high, and the back's all black and when you push process your film to 6400 and it doesn't develop evenly, a really dark background looks bad, but people like it, and I don't know why.

  9. @miloth I'd still blame Java. If there's a problem with Minecraft my go-to blame is on Java.

Monday, 15-Aug-11 19:11:49 UTC from web in context
  10. @miloth It's probably a Java issue. Java is wholly unstable, and I wish so bad that Minecraft that was C based.

  11. I listen to bad music and I'm okay with that. I listen to things you hear in lounges, and the kind of crap that plays at the cinema before the preview starts, and I don't care! I like this kind of music, it's very chill. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yooCUxDp82g

You look a lot older', I'm going to counter with 'You look like a applesty spoiled kid who doesn't care about about school and is only going to graduate because the No Child Left Behind act has lowered testing standards so much that halfwits like you can get into college, barely graduate, then wonder why you can't get a job and end up working a job you hate your whole life'.

  15. I'm really happy to have so quickly found my niche as a photographer. I got started doing street portraits, inspired by Danny Santos (http://www.dannyst.com/), did that for a bit, then I started shooting black and white film in low light situations, which I really like doing. Now doing street portraiture doesn't seem like me at all. I'm happy to be inspired, not influenced, and to have found my own thing so quickly.

  17. @greydragon412 Yeah, they're my favourite band, and the band that got me into guitar music. One of my friends introduced me to them in 2003, he knew I was a jazz guy, so when he told me they were an instrumental prog metal band that plays arranges of Final Fantasy music, I made this face. http://doctormowinckel.com/pictures/mlp/this_face.gif He then told me they play really complicated, interesting music, and I should listen to 'em. He's a guy whose opinion on things I care about, so I gave 'em a listen, and I was like, wtf? This is some really intricate music, and I got hooked. They're great, I can't get enough of them. Been listening to them for eight years, still not sick of them. They've been a big influence on how I record and mix the records I work on, and they got me into arranging music. I wouldn't have picked up my music theory studies if it weren't for them. And they me into guitar music. They've had a really big impact on what I do in music, and how I work as an engineer.

  18. @greydragon412 It'd be instrumental guitar pieces http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBfc0-KuDGE I play stand up bass, and it's not like programming drums or keys is difficult, so if I could record bass, record guitar, and program the drums and keys, I could pretty much do everything myself. I work as an audio engineer too, so I've got the gear to record myself.

  19. Eight years ago, I got into guitar music, and I've been resisting playing guitar for about the past two. I'm a strings player, and strings players are pretentious bananas canoes who look at things like guitars and go 'Guh faw! Simpletons music!', but, I've been hearing some awesome guitar music that makes me go 'Awwww! I wanna do that!'. At least they're cheap and easy.

  21. @starshine MLPArena and MLPTP are feeling alienated by the new breed of fans calling themselves 'bronies', like you're special if you're a 'brony', whereas if you've been into it for a decade like the cats at MLPTP and MLPArena, you're not special 'cause you're not a 'brony'. I'm sure most of them are inviting toward new members, but they don't like having their significance in the community minimalized 'cause they're not 'bronies'. So, I get where they're coming from.

  26. Does the term 'brony' bug anyone else? It sets a precedent, 'we are the male fans, we deserve our own community and moniker', either consciously or subconsciously that has to alienate the female fan base, or make them think that the brony community isn't for them. The whole notion of saying 'we are male fans, therefore we get a special title' is absurd. The Glee community as a whole is united under the name of 'Gleeks', fans of Lost are collectively drawn together by their bad taste, but the term 'brony' says 'we are male fans, we are special', that's really lame. And the attitude some MLP communities have toward females fans is really obnoxious. I'm not going to name names, but some IRCs have perpetuated a hostile environment toward female fans. I really wish the 'brony' term had never surfaced.

I do like it quite a bit. This was scanned with a flatbed scanner, not a negative scanner, getting that done tomorrow. http://ur1.ca/4vm3p
