Star Trek is going to be dramatically different from other shows/movies. In MOST bullcrap, the heroes are rewarded or celebrated for constantly taking leaps of faith and in general just giving up on reason because belief is supposedly empowering (aka Star Wars, and most american films). In Trek, the heroes are generally skeptics, and their skepticism and dedication to their moral and civic duties leads them to solve their problems.

@snowcone many of season 1's episodes are really good, but Balance of Terror and Space Seed are by far the best. Though some people prefer Court Martial and Arena, and City on the edge of Forever is considered to be one of the best Star Trek episodes ever

@snowcone Star Trek is awesome, but like any show has good episodes and really bad episodes. Overall the whole is great, except for the Next Generation movies. If you wish to try out the original series or the Next generation, I can create for you a list of good episodes
