  1. @aldobelus I know about problems with #, please read my reply to you 5 days ago about my own investigation of possible causes, including about "there is nothing new".
    Unfortunately, due to the Twitter-like approach in a server to client communication taken by GNU Social many years ago and even by Mastodon recently, notes and activities that look the same for a human eye, are represented as different by each server. This is the main cause of users' confusions seeing notifications about the same activities.
    Hoping that the networks will eventually implement # "client to server layer" spec that resolves this deficiency, I plan to improve Notifications in # even in the presence of such unavoidable duplicates...
    And another note: Looking for Notifications improvements, please make sure that you have AndStatus v.43.02 installed, see https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/456

  5. @aldobelus @colegota I monitored my Notifications in # for some days, and today I thought that I found a bug: I saw "2 mentions", but Notifications timeline didn't show me anything that I didn't see in the morning.
    I searched in logs for "NewNotification" and found out that in this case the two mentions were expected: 4 days ago I was mentioned by some user at mastodon.social, but only today I got two copies of the same note/mention: from mstdn.io and from loadaverage.org. Naturally these two new mentions were collapsed with that 4 days old mention, and this is why I didn't notice them...

  6. @colegota Please try # v.43.02 - I see that now "false notifications" are at least less frequent.

  7. @aldobelus When you click on a Notification, # opens Notification timeline at the last position that you viewed. This is by design. You need to scroll up to see newer activities.
    As I see "Collapse duplicates" feature often hides several duplicated posts (activities) under one post, so if another duplicate was received, you see a Notification, but at a first glance it looks like no new activities were loaded.
    I will think, how to improve this... Maybe highlight new activities somehow...

  9. Note - Client to server # layer for # ?!
    @alex@pump.strugee.net @evan@identi.ca Hello pals!
    Looking at the Pump.io's GitHub site https://github.com/pump-io/pump.io I see some discussions regarding # support, but I couldn't figure out if you are implementing client to server layer of # ?!
    If yes, what's the status of this work?
    I want to make # Android app an ActivityPub client, but I need at least one server that supports this in order to test my implementation, naturally :-)

  17. # v.43.00 "Links to mentioned users and to hashtags are opened in AndStatus" released
    Plain text notes are linkified:
    mentions are linked to User's "Sent" timelines;
    hashtags are linked to Search timelines of these hashtags.
    Existing links of mentions and hashtags in HTML notes are replaced with in-client links also.
    Please note that "CheckAudience" step added to Seetings -> Troubleshooting -> "Check and fix data". Applying this fixing procedure allows to have clicks on mentions opened in AndStatus even for older notes. http://andstatus.org/changelog.html https://loadaverage.org/attachment/4643055

  20. @jayviide@mastodon.social Mentions and Hashtags look like ordinary links, but click on such a link opens a Timeline in # :

  21. I just implemented creation / rewriting of links in notes and opening them by # for # and for # This greatly simplifies navigation without leaving the application, leading you through the # and time in just several clicks.
    I was surprised to find out that users, whith whom I talked recently, gave me their feedback years ago already... (I have history of notes for several years, from different social networks, stored on my phone in AndStatus)

  22. @delores I need to figure this out yet :-) The Source code of # is open, so everybody is welcome to help in this investigation.
    I also noticed that some unrelated posts are marked as "Replies to me". This bug may be related to this new feature: Actors in different Social networks (having the same Webfinger Id) are logically linked to allow you to see their joined profile page (including notes by these actors, received from different networks).
    Stay turned!

  23. @roka Thanks for these logs, I will look at them closer today. Currently I see that for some reason a note, posted to Pleroma, doesn't have an attachment even in its metadata...
    Please clarify: do you see attached images in the downloaded posts that have images when looking via web interface? I mean, if only _posting_ images from # to Pleroma doesn't work?

  24. @roka Does this work with any other Pleroma instance? I mean is the problem in compatibility with Pleroma in general or just with your site's setup? In order to figure out a problem from # side you could:
    1. Lookup errors in Menu -> "Commands in a queue"
    2. Turn on verbose logging with saving logs to files, and later analyse logs of a Note with an attachment sending. More on logging in AndStatus is here: https://github.com/andstatus/andstatus/issues/225

  25. @nico Actually, this "Anonymize other users" feature may be an option in the mainstream #
    ...Although mentioning other users in notes' body should be real (not anonymized usernames) for the interactions to work correctly.
    Anyway, I could add a simple implementation of this feature just for starting playing with it?!
