I think you're right in that some soul is lost. Anything which grows too much will fail as a community. However, as this is all !fs the important thing to remember is that these are mere tools to create our own, new and balanced communities.
I for one have seen many Twitter users come and go in floods to the !fediverse, some staying to create instances of #GNUsocial I think are despicable and don't agree with. But they are only a problem if you lack moderation.
Instead of "web-scale" we should think "human-scale". -
@wintersteele If you're still looking for an android client, I use AndStatus, but not sure how well it works with Mastodon, I'm on a #GNUSocial instance.

Curioso ver como unos ya comienzan a mudarse de instancias, otros se queda, otros prueban, otros se equivocan, otros experimentan, otros quieren reservar cuenta, otros les gusta distribuir opiniones.
Y todo esto ya sea dentro de #mastodon como de #gnusocial, simplemente es una parte de lo que ofrece la federación. Obvio también hay quien ni se muda, ni prueban, ni sacan o se reservan cuenta en ninguna más, pues con una sola cuenta tiene suficiente. Así pues hay de todo y habrá de todas posibilidades. ¡Es genial! #fediverse #instances !bobinas -

@ekaitzzarraga @puppetmaster yo creo que en realidad esta bien que los periodistas se informen antes de publicar, no obstante, creo que no tienen que hablar sobre #gnusocial o sobre #friendica si no quieren. Es decir, #mastodon usa #OStatus (un conjunto de protocolos) que también usan otros programas (gnusocial, friendica). Mencionar que se ha basado en GNUsocial esta bien, pero no creo que los periodistas mirasen siquiera el repositorio del código.
En el repo del código si lo mencionan y lo dejan muy claro: "A GNU Social-compatible microblogging server", "An alternative implementation of the GNU social project. Based on ActivityStreams, Webfinger, PubsubHubbub and Salmon.". -
@ekaitzzarraga Los medios ... No se paran los periodistas a comprobar mucho y normalmente en temas de estos menos. Pero al margen de los medios lo bonito es que los nuevos usuarios de nodos mastodon terminarán viendo que existe otra gente en nodos #gnusocial si nos relacionamos. Existe vida más allá de #mastodon :)

@cdllm @kevinmarks OStatus was standardized in the #StatusNet days (pre #GNUSocial) and no active work is being done on it these days

@kevinmarks #GNUSocial and #Diaspora use the same #OStatus protocol set but they implement them so differently they can't interoperate (yet)
