@vruz You're on a network where everything is public from the start, which designed that way from its beginnings a decade ago. It seems strange to expect that no one will index your posts at some point because of this and because there are already federated networks designed with privacy in mind, such as #Diaspora and #Friendica, both of which are quite different from #GNU_Social and #Mastodon. @sina

I use #gnusocial because it is what I like. The accesibility is pretty much perfect for people using screen readers, and @mmn is quick to fix any #a11y problems. but I certainly don't have any problem with any other service. I mean we're all in this together right? Lol Everything should federate with everything else. Friendship should know no borders. Now, if only we could get this concept through to the people running Twitter and Facebook, maybe they could learn to federate too. >:-)}

I think you're right in that some soul is lost. Anything which grows too much will fail as a community. However, as this is all !fs the important thing to remember is that these are mere tools to create our own, new and balanced communities.

I for one have seen many Twitter users come and go in floods to the !fediverse, some staying to create instances of #GNUsocial I think are despicable and don't agree with. But they are only a problem if you lack moderation.

Instead of "web-scale" we should think "human-scale".

I have just finished, well gotten it to a working state anyway, my very first #gnusocial #plugin! It allows URL shortening using yourls. https://klink.ml/4
Now, I guess I should make the plugin publicially available. Perhapse a project for tomorrow, unless someone is just dying to have it now, in that case send me a mention soon, for it is nearly bed time.
