Has anyone actually checked and monitored how well the #federation #network actually works? Are posts visible on other hubs and what's the delivery #latency. Etc. I'm just curious. Is there any automated #monitoring / #statistics site for this information? #gnusocial #mastodon

Yeah, that makes sense. That may be why #StatusNet & #GNU_Social have a built-in #PuSH server.

Dear fellow !gnusocial admins: is there a way to pull all known groups (local+federated) as list of URLs from the database?

Is there an option to backup a !gnusocial account (mainly: people I follow and groups I'm subscribed to) and to import it in a new quitter server? I can't find the option here in !quitterno (qvitter or classic), nor looking for it in duckduckgo.com, FAQ... Thanks!

@infO_Overlord Different instances of #Mastodon and #GnuSocial have different subsets of the same conversation. This is by design of the federated network...
This is exactly why e.g. I simultaneously use several @AndStatus accounts at different instances. #AndStatus application helps me see copies of the same messages at different instances, choose as what user/at which instance I want/can take part in the discussion, collapse duplicates visually in a timeline. -

Direktnachrichten werden bei GNU Social (und vermutlich bei allen
anderen Netzwerken) im Klartext in der Datenbank gespeichert. Mir ist
das wieder bewusst geworden als ein Nutzer um Löschung bat und ich
plötzlich alle Nachrichten vor mir hatte.
Das ist doch sehr unangenehm...
Ich habe daher entschieden die Funktion für Direktnachrichten komplett
abzuschalten. Solltet ihr eine Löschung eurer Nachrichten wünschen,
einfach kurz Bescheid geben.
Nutzt für private Nachrichten XMPP oder verschlüsselte E-Mails.

a user asked me to delete his messages and suddenly I had all of them
in clear text in front of me.
Which is very discomforting...
So I decided to turn the direct messages feature off completely. If you
want your messages deleted please let me know.
For private messages please use XMPP or encrypted e-mail. -

En Asamblea en el #Hacklab del Centro Social la Ingobernable ... se llegó al consenso de ir abandonando progresivamente con amor y cariño, de la mensajería instantánea Telegram, a la nuestra . Redes libres, autónomas y federadas. Como #GNUSocial ... Naturalmente . No podía ser de otro modo.
Así pues, como ya adelantó @fanta "habemus" fechas para que @colegota nos acompañe, en el taller de #XMPP en el #Ingoberlab #301 de #laIngobernable a últimos de Agosto?

No way to know whether I'll succeed in this, but I'm planning to submit at least one patch each to #GNU_Social and #Friendica in 2017. And to try to help create better docs for both projects.
