  1. a blacklist is inherently racist because it implies that being black is bad and that whitelists are superior.

please think about these things before engaging in these sort of things. we have to look at the actual CULTURAL implications and historical facts before using terms such as these

  13. @aral Reasonably the public timeline should be just an Atom feed as any other for consumption in ordinary feed readers. I hope @gargron does this too, but # has a somewhat privacy-through-obscurity perspective on what to make easily available and what you have to script together to get a full picture of.

  21. # users: content warnings dont exist out of mastodon, like literally, the programs don't have it.  So asking for them won't help even if the person doesn't mind putting CWs on stuff.

Consider asking people to # tags on stuff that is truly objectionable - it is the universal fediverse sensitive content tag.  Any message that is tagged # should be spoilered on most of the fediverse at this point.

  27. Hey, new # node admins and/or residents!

This instance uses little icons (like favicons really) to denote what instance a post comes from.  It would be neat to have icons for the new masto instances - so far I just have one for mastodon.social itself, and icosahedron (did I spell that right?)
