@micahflee @mcscx @quincy @lambadalambda no doubt about it. my point is: FLOSS, federated services seem to have a way of surviving a phase of "normal people" losing interest to resurface later.
On the other hand, FLOSS, federated services need *content* to bring in more users and break the #WalledGardens monolopy. That's why the current #Mastodon run is important to me.

@micahflee #fediverse for us is the network of nodes connected via the !ostatus microblogging protocol. Ostatus has been created by the makers of StatusNet (which is now called GNUsocial) in about 2008. About a year ago #Mastodon has been created as an interoperable alternative to GNUsocial (different server software and user interface but otherwise much the same and everybody can follow everyone). @csaurus @lambadalambda @quincy

Keine Ahnung wieso, vielleicht liegt es an den Leuten hier oder einfach an dem Gefühl welches Mastodon verbreitet aber ich selten so aktiv ein Social Network genutzt und bin mit so vielen fremden Menschen in Kontakt getreten. #Mastodon #Rocks #thxmilan #thxthomas das ihr mich hierher geholt habt über indirekte Wege :)

#Mastodon updates: Performance improvement on the compose form, hopefully fixed the glow falsely appearing when you're already at the top, "load more" button will not appear unless the UI thinks there is more to be loaded, fixed bug where unboosting a status could put it on feeds of those followers who wouldn't have seen it prior due to having blocked the author

Apparently, #Mastodon is significantly slower than GS servers with better queues (Redis, RabbitMQ, and so on) configured: http://u.daggsy.com/X2
It's still 4× faster than GNU/Smug, though.

I have an account on MS, but I can't ever tell which notices will appear in my home timeline. Most of those that I expect to see are only visible in the public. Adding a #Mastodon instance here (on the 'm00' subdomain) is planned, but I'm delaying because of this.
