#statusnet joverlay question
-
@erkanyilmaz but then, #statusnet is the only thing that doesn’t run well here. I will have to think about convenience too. Cannot afford two shared hosting plans.
-
Update from the webhost (about #statusnet daemons):
“I talked with our senior server managers and could find that pcntl is not made available in our shared servers due to the large number of PHP processes it may fork. You would need at least a VPS to use this functionality.”
:-/

@finn klappt nicht :-( Siehst du was in deinem #statusnet logfile ? zumindest ist's jetzt eine andere Meldung (als ganz am Anfang): 1. POST /main/ostatussub HTTPClient: HTTP POST http://status.finnchristiansen.de/main/push/hub - 400 Bad Request 2. und weiter POST /main/ostatussub FeedSub::doSubscribe: sub req failed with HTTP 400: <div class="error">Unrecognized mode "".</div>

Has anyone currently running his #statusnet with #openid support ? Here (1) it says: "upstream php-openid library currently fails on PHP 5.3", wondering if it works with 5.4/5.5 better (though we've no official built for those php versions ;-)) http://status.net/wiki/OpenID

Well friendica surely worked out of the box. It cannot federate with #StatusNet, yes, but that is a known fact: http://mini.alochana.net/url/846

A list of things that don’t work on my #StatusNet instance:
(1) Posting notices- I have to refresh the page to avoid the error. (2) Clients – they don’t work at all (3) Image uploading/posting (4) Twitter bridge – I cannot ask tweeps to install this half baked mango so I must send my notices across the bridge (5) Exporting from GUI doesn’t work (6) Restoring from backups work, sometimes. You have to know how to edit code in a text editor and how to use SSH. #StatusNetRants -
and I cannot use that weird posting method when I am on mobile. So I have stopped using #StatusNet when I’m travelling.

And people still use this kiwi due to political reasons. those who created #StatusNet abused that political will by spreading misinformation that this is ready to provide an alternative to twitter and other proprietary, centralized networks. That was bullpapaya. This is experimental software. They should have said the FrankerZing truth.

#helping @quix0r@status.mxchange.org would also be good :-( not only because of this (1) he's more interested to make #statusnet more #secure with his patches, I think perhaps on weekend we can make him write up a little bit about this? #openShift is a platform (which belongs to Red Hat) offering a #statusnet installer, more info: http://oracle.skilledtests.com/notice/218477 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenShift

I have this masochist tendency that makes me go back to #statusnet whenever I regain my energy.

ich sehe die prios sind richtig hier ;-) RT @p1ng0ut@quitter.se Bei mir kommt eher ein #statusnet Server, bevor ich mir 'nen #ejabberd installiere

RT @theanarcat back on #diaspora since #identi.ca ditched #statusnet. still no compatibility with free social networks :( http://anarc.at/services/social

I will try to make a suggestion. Another #learning process on how to use #gitorious :) #statusnet is obviously and understandably not ready for most shared hosts. A warning has to be there, that this is experimental software. And users who are not comfortable with the command line should be advised to find a public site run by someone else. And get your own server (VPS or above) to gain full control. #justsaying #thinkingaloud
-
and if this is so vital for a #sn site to run smoothly it has to be enabled by default. and it has to be mentioned properly in the official installation guide. at the moment, not everybody can run these scripts. this seems to be a limitation of #statusnet and a warning needs to be included in the README or whatever so people will know what they are getting into.

@indi the search only shows you results on that #statusnet instance, there are many more instances in the !fediverse - the list @kuro talks about is: http://federation.skilledtests.com/List_of_federated_Statusnet_groups.html

what I told in chat: Well, my rule is: if I don't want it out, I don't post that. That's also why I don't use #friendica so much anymore: I don't #trust in software to make protection, since it's buggy, can be hacked ... and since I know I am using a public #statusnet instance, I am - each time - reminded that it's #public. So I don't run in the danger to "#forget" this

@csolisr If you have some trouble that others don't see your friendica posts, keep this in mind: "For #PuSH to work, you need some sort of #pubsubhub service, that #statusnet / #GNUsocial has built in, friendica doesn't" "Which will certaily be attacked by us #friendica devs in the future but won't work now." http://social.alochana.net/display/lohang/107 https://f.diekershoff.de/display/tobias/79426
