#totw Winter Wrap up started with the confusion and mishandling of a "wrapped up" gift of a bunch of winter snow clouds from the Pegasus to the Earth ponies and the clean up that followed. Nightmare night was actually based of a series of foal-nappings that went on by Zebras who would, using evil Zebra magic, take on the form of Nightmare moon and snatch up colts and fillies to take them away and through using evil zebra science melt them down into a plastic like compound and mold them into figurines to be sold in an alternate dimension to strange beings. Neither of these are related to the Apple Family. Pies

#totw Winter Wrap Up was a tradition of bringing in spring without using magic, which makes sense for an old EP family like the Smiths (later, the Apples). Nightmare Night seems like something that might have begun as a campfire story, or something to frighten unruly children.

#totw If Luna can watch over dreams, and guide ponies through their subconsciousness- to have proper balance, Celestia would have to have perfect intuition (To just know what everypony is doing, or thinking, but within certain bounds). She would then guide ponies through their active consciousness, by interacting with them, either through letters or by visiting them.

#totw I think she keeps ponies safe by watching over them as they daydream and rudely bumps them out of it if they are in any sort or form in danger. Sort of like when exploring a cave and you are daydreaming about finding treasure, and a bunch of bats are flying towards you rapidly
