I wish the UK pirate party weren't the "Everything I want should be free" type of hippies. So many of their not-freeloader policies are so good, but I can't in good conscience waste a vote supporting them because their hardline "It should be legal to steal TV shows" standpoint means they'll never gain any real traction.

@jla I think copyright desperately needs reform, but I don't think "I should be able to take whatever I want without compensating artists" is the answer.

@ceruleanspark The purpose of copyright is to encourage writing and art, which is desirable, but stopping people from sharing is unjustified and too much. And companies remarks of "piracy" and "theft" is propaganda.

@ceruleanspark I think of that feeling as tranquility - when things are peaceful and my needs are meant abundantly, but happiness is the term I give for anything in the range of good feelings. I don't know what the word is actually supposed to mean though.

@fluttershycanhardlyfly I tend to think of it as more of a continuum, with pure perfect joy/nirvana on one end, and the absolute suicidal depths of despair on the other. Vanilla happiness is only a "tier" above neutral emotion.

@ceruleanspark @minti @widgit Thanks so much for your help, guys. This being the first time I see myself being attacked and all, it was kinda... strange. Then again, also really, really cool. Haven't felt so awesome when using a computer in a while. Like I was literally saying "**** you guys" when I executed the "sudo rc.d stop httpd" command and all the traffic stopped. God, that was awesome. Really improved my day.

@redenchilada What advice would you have for someone who has a crush on a girl in class, but is not interested in pursuing a relationship. She probably has a clue about it but doesn't care. Should I just be open about it and explore the unreciprocated phenomenon on an intellectual level just for fun? She seems pretty chill but I don't know if an average girl would think 'wtf', if he likes me why not...

@fluttershycanhardlyfly If you're not interested in a serious relationship, I would think the best thing to do would just be to stay friends? Being open may not be the best idea, especially because you will probably not know each other well you are likely to creep her out. I must say, I have very little experience with dating. I just got really, really lucky and had a great friendship turn into a great relationship, but this sounds logical in my head.

Friendship advice time pony experts! How do you deal with clingy friends who put you down in front of other friends, and are obscenely submissive in your company alone. It’s disgusting. I don’t want to just lose it to him because he is sensitive and without my company he wouldn’t get much respect socially. He’s also told me right out that that’s the reason he hangs around me. I wonder what’s the best way to go about this. Surely there is a good outcome for me. I’ve got a golden reputation for being kind and getting respect. It looks like I’ll have to kill 1. Any other choices here?
