@fallinwinter I think that A) It's a hopeless cause, and that B) It's also somewhat offensive. Look at half the profiles on this site. If the very first thing a person wants you to know about them is that they're a furry, what does that tell you about how they're likely to conduct themselves in public?

@ceruleanspark The first problem I see, is that I'm horribly biased and think that if interviewed, I'd do at least a moderately good job at warding any unwanted answers from surfacing and being generally able to keep from outwardly demeaning the fandom. (Before they mince my words into something horrible.) That being said, even if they were to do so, I wouldn't care and can accept that they'll call me names or judge me. However, I'm not everyone and they mostly seem to have an issue with being considered weird or associated with "furries" which is a problem when it's hard to change another's views when that skewed view is exactly what they want to find. With that said, if they really care about their public view, it's probably easiest to just never touch their public view. Granted, this isn't the best solution, but in our case, there really isn't one that satisfies everyone.

@fallinwinter If you talk to the press, they will twist your words to suit the agenda they have decided they want. Period. No amount of interview training will help with that. In my country, it's standard practise for government officials to simply repeat the same answer to every question, even to the point where it doesn't make sense anymore, so that when the media tries to edit it, they've only got that answer to use. As far as I am concerned, I like ponies, and this fandom, regardless of the level of mainstream approval it recieves. I am not, to be honest, overly concerned with other people's desire for it to be a "respectable" hobby. It's weird. Period. Just because it's harmless doesn't make it any less weird. On the topic of furries: I am one. I just don't feel the need to wear it like a goddamn badge of honor. It's the same with the ponies. I don't have this burning desire to TELL EVERYONE ALL THE TIME and for them to ACCEPT ME AT ALL COSTS AAAAAAAAA

@purpletinker @ponydude2143 isn't getting them and neither is his bot, the @eqdpony. He used to get them, but he turned them off for a while, and now upon turning them back on, he doesn't get them anymore. @Leonkfox doesn't get them either. I on the other hand, always get mine, as do others. (They're the only way to tell you've got a new DM, for starters)
