@partycrash You know guitars, right?

@presentperfect I have some understanding, my friends have been trying to teach me for years :)
-
@presentperfect Your name just reminded me of Phoenix Wright.
-
@ladestitute ...Really? o.O
-
@partycrash Well... You wouldn't happen to know why a capo is making my high strings sound dull, would you?
-
@presentperfect *nod*
-
@presentperfect maybe there is not enough pressure on that side? can happen if you have a plastic capo instead of a clamp-type metal one
-
@heartstring It's a spring-loaded capo, and I hadn't had any problems with it until I got the guitar (acoustic) restrung.
-
@presentperfect hmmmmm, did you change the string gauge? Maybe you need to adjust the truss rod, that can sometimes help
-
@heartstring A) I have no idea, it was done for me. B) What is that and how do I do it?
-
@presentperfect at the top of the soundhole near the neck there should be a slot for a hex-wrench. But if you haven't done this before take it into a shop and have it set up, as you can do permanent damage if you do it wrong. As for the strings, do they feel tighter or thicker? that will tell you if the gauge has changed.
-
@heartstring They're definitely... heavier? Harder to press down? I dunno, mostly they're just shiny and rust-free. Would increasing the tension on the capo help? (Dude who restrung it also adjusted that bar, I think.)
-
@presentperfect ok, he must have put on a heavier gauge string, which means that you have to adjust either the truss rod (as the increased tension is bending the neck inwards) OR try increasing the tension on the capo. Try adjusting that first, and if that does not help take it somewhere and have them adjust the truss rod. If I was in Ohio I could do it. How far away from Columbus are you?
-
@heartstring I'll try that tomorrow. I'm about 2, 2.5 hours away, in the northeast. I'm just a quick walk from the guitar shop, though. It's run by the guy who made this guitar.
-
@presentperfect oh good, then it will be easy to fix. Try the capo first and if that does not work take it to the guy and I am SURE he will be able to fix it!
-
@heartstring Thanks a lot, man. :D This really had me bummed out on Sunday.
-
@presentperfect No problem! I am glad to help! As an amateur/immature guitar builder you find these things out along the way, and I am always glad to share what the deaths of several guitars/basses has taught me! I know how frustrating it is when you want to plaw/write/screw around and you cant because the equipment is malfunctioning...
-
@heartstring Yeah, I was preparing for a livestream and Winter Wrap-Up was sounding flat. Really screwed me up for a while.
-
@presentperfect but it's working better now?
-
@heartstring Actually, I haven't touched it for two days. I'll let you know tomorrow!
-
@presentperfect ok, do that, I hope I helped!
-
@presentperfect oh, and not to be creepy or anything, but your avatar is adorable!!!
