this frame took five minutes to render and it ain’t even from a finished environment, that’s two hours a second, can you believe it? http://rainbowdash.net/url/875749

@mrmattimation Why aren't you overclocking to the point you need buckets of liquid nitrogen noob???
-
@scribus The crazy thing is I DO have what one would consider “professional” hardware for this sort of thing, AND I was accelerating the render with a ray tracing-capable graphics card. It’s the METHOD I used to get that painterly look that kinda screwed with things, I’m pretty sure what I did (which I did on accident) was not on the list of things the developers of the program intended designers to do.
-
@mrmattimation So long as you're not still overnighting Polaroids of the day's frame back to HQ I guess

@mrmattimation Y'know I'm starting to suspect it's less mental gymnastics, and more like mental scoliosis

@scribus it’s mental limbo but the participant has mental scoliosis

@mrmattimation And also, just, everything is on fire, why not

I haven't eaten an "Amerikaner" for a long time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_and_white_cookie Here it's mostly sold with only white glazing.
about 14 days ago from web-
@scribus I'm not a pumpkin guy but I imagine a simple chunky butter wheat cookie covered with a sugar glazing and small caramelized pumpkin chunks.
-
@adiwan I'm actually using a basic sugar cookie, plus some gourd puree and relevant spices, a little maple syrup. So far, so good. Last time I was out of cinnamon so they were a bit more like ginger snaps than pie, like I'd hoped, but the texture was great and they worked even without the cinnamon. May cut down the cloves, though...
-
@adiwan But now I have two ideas...

This is the most interesting read this year as the vaccine is compared to a biological hacking attempt, like a computer. https://berthub.eu/articles/posts/reverse-engineering-source-code-of-the-biontech-pfizer-vaccine/

Does anybody have a good suggestion for a term for when a thing is simultaneously heartbreaking and heartwarming? https://twitter.com/LauraJedeed/status/1338571002175844352 It's about using dogs to help recover the cremated remains of people's loved ones, from the ashes of homes destroyed in the wildfire season

Oh boy. I search for a new laser printer for my parents as theirs refuse to cooperate. The exact model I own is now about 100€ more expensive than I bought it over a year ago. WTF.
about 2 months ago from web-
@scribus It's cool that there is a cheap solution but I rather pay triple that for a proper one with a bigger volume and higher resolution.
-
@adiwan Yeah, I get the same feel. Might pick it up for my dad, who has expressed minor interest, but it would be too late for a Christmas present...

@scribus Double up and get an "Elegoo Mars" as it has proven its worth.

Prepared the calendar for printout. My mother still uses a physical calendar for everything. She wants a month view with as big boxes for each day as possible to write in. Also Monday as the first day, and Saturday and Sunday in red. All commercial calendars do not support her needs. Luckily this exists https://texample.net/tikz/examples/birthday-calendar/ With some adjustments I could customize it enough to make her happy.

It depresses me that there are less and less new PC cases with space for optical drives (CD/DVD/BluRay). I'm starting to look around for a new PC. As my PC is older and my case has only USB2 ports and an unreliable headphone jack, as well as showing wear I want a new one. My current case is from Cooler Master from 2006. This one in black/silver https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/B0009SZQY8.2.jpg

@scribus What even happened to floppy drives, EDO RAM, user-upgradable CPU cache, manually selectable device IRQ, Soundblaster, 3Dfx, CRT monitors, PS/2 keyboards, ball mice, IDE, SCSI...?
-
@adiwan I'm willing to let go of ball mice, but I still want me some PS/2 ports because damn it you only give me four USB ports and expect two of them to be mandatory input devices???
-
@scribus I'm glad my monitor has an integrated USB hub. I have a mouse, keyboard, scanner, drawing tablet, VR headset, and an external HDD, a microphone, and a webcam attached to almost all available ports of the whole system. I use the front ones occasionally for the SD card reader. So I'm pretty much maxed out.

Oooh. A potential vaccine was developed (German news site https://www.tagesschau.de/inland/biontech-corona-impfstoff-103.html ). It needs two injections 3 weeks apart. A week after the second injection an immunity to COVID is expected. I hope it is not a fluke.
