  1. It is constructed! However it is too late to power it up. My eyes are tired enough. First impression: It's cheap and it shows at every corner. Despite the "Pro" in its name it feels far from it. The front (and back) plate where the rods and screw rod for the table are attached to is made of bakelite. I expected aluminium. On the other hand it seems to be thick and sturdy. The only real bummers are the plastic spindle holder and the plastic holders for the bushings for sliding on the rods and the plastic screw rod nut holder. I'll test it tomorrow or so before my complaints get any validity. I mean I got what I paid for: A cheap CNC for cheap money. Baby's first CNC. http://rainbowdash.net/attachment/874944

    • @adiwan I do not know what bakelite is. Nor do I know what that circuit boards looks like but I guess that is where the pro comes from ( picture please )

Now you might want to check before you begin if the thing is 'smart' enough to not go out of bounds and destroy itself. I did a little bit of reading on them machines.

    • @drinkingpony Bakelite is a type of plastic. Many products were made of bakelite until modern plastics like ABS were invented. And it will destroy itself because it lacks any endstop switches but I will install some that I have laying around. The pro aspect of it is that it has support for lasers and the spindle is a bit more precise. I will test it when I come back from work.

You know, I was just thinking ? Can we get some sort of system that we can designate something as spam ?

Oh and it would obviously be logged who designated something as spam so we could not supress eachother without a mod lurking over would-be-abusers.

Yeah, no idea if that can be implemented, if someone wants that implemented, or even if it is a good idea in the first place. But I swear if I see advertisements about the paleo diet again I am going to scream like a caveman.

        • Oh look, there is drama surrounding 007 again. Not James Bond mind you, just 007. Apparently a woman is going to play the new Bond 007 and not that guy I talked about about a month ago and his unflattering photo.

Does not really help that clickbait articles go with "Captain Marvel Actor Gets 007 Movie" ( no matter which side of the coin you are on, you know Brie Larson is seen as a flawed everything by the haters ).

Look people, I just have one thing to say.

        • SITH TROOPERS !?! You are going to take something out of the old canon you made un-canon and pretty much make it look like someone dropped a Duck-Helmet Storm Trooper into the wrong vat of paint ?!?

Go home Disney, you are drunk !

That advice is coming from ME ! Someone with both a really positive deposition towards the hard stuff, and also someone who painted the first Ork ( W40K ) with the wrong primer causing him to look ruggid, badass, awesome, and of African descent.

          • @drinkingpony As a consumer of the new canon (having all the comics that came after the switch) and having only glimpses of experience with the old canon I'm heavily biased. As far as I have gathered the old canon is guilty of several stupid things like clones of Palpatine and Luke and such that appears to be fan-fictiony as well.

          • @adiwan You forgot the clones of Luke named Luuke and Luuuke ( no really ).

But yeah, fair point. All movies have severe faults and cracks in them. However it took Disney only 2 mainline movies to break the fandom. The two biggest sides seem to be those who absolutely love it and defend it so hard till their mind seems to break ( warning, 2 hour podcast of someone whose mind seems to break defending the movie https://youtu.be/bXs0LXqK2SM ). Those who still come out with movies why it all sucked and why it is all going to hell. I am not even sure if that 'side' is actually truthfull when they shout 'Please make Brie Larson a Jedi, let it all die !' or not.

Meanwhile I like to see myself as in the middle and heavily in the minority.

Imagine a kid creating a beautiful sandcastle on a beach only to come back the next day to find out that there is now a squatter playing with 'your' sand castle. Surely you can share, right ? But part of me still goes "You know, this could have been better

Then after the updates it goes back to load all the things that were previously open, such as YouTube tabs I had put on pause to listen to / watch later. But I guess getting shocked to wide alert on http://rainbowdash.net/url/874866 while Angry Joe rips some game a new one, while at the same time ERB's "Steven Spielberg vs Alfred Hitchcock" and Luis Rossman does a RIP&TEAR on a poor piece of electronics, all together fight for dominance of my speakers.

              • Hmm, Well, Extra Credits did it again. This time they tried to jam the idea of "Nazi's are bad people !" into their talk about video games so hard that they are now about receiving 20 thumbs down for every 6 thumbs up.

Meanwhile, yeah I agree with the general message behind what they are saying. We must stop trying to normalize the idealisms of Nazi's. However to blame Video Gamers is Jack Thompson levels of insane to me, especially if you see how the arguements are formed.

Heck I am sure that the fact that there is a president in the U.S.A. who is being called a Nazi like clockwork is doing harm to 'normalize the Nazi's' than a game called "The life of Erwin Rommel, the VR experience"

No use looking that up either, I just had to think of a stupid game title and I had a brain fart about Fennec Foxes earlier...

                • @drinkingpony Honestly all they can achieve with this is getting nazis to be seen positively in the long run. Think jews for example, they were universally disliked up until wwii, the nazis screwed up so badly with it than they became a group you can't criticize in most of the western world.

More so since what they call "nazis" have nothing to do with what an actual nazi is. Trump is a good example, he might have not delivered on most of the stuff he promised, but anyone else would be laureate after as US president being one of three main actors in the end of the korean war and restart of diplomatic relationships between the DPRK and the USA. Give it a few decades, and once the groups that screech about Trump cease to exist, he'll be seen in an overwhelmingly positive way in historical retrospectives. If these idiots conflate the words "nazi" and "trump", the logical conclussion is that he's a nazi, and therefore nazis are a boogeyman, okish people that are hated by fanatical groups.

                • @nerthos You know, I agree with you. But you should probably go watch the video. Heck go with the straight up reply video of this guy https://youtu.be/KngleLumR_U .

I guess the biggest problem is that EC thinks that we should stop to normalize the Nazi's. Those being ACTUAL Nazi's and their ideology, by being extremely patronising to the point of nausea in Multiplayer Games.

Also to tinker with the matchmaking system to do the opposite of rewarding Nazi's. Which is just a system so insane that the moment you write it down you realize that you punish ALL players because your game has Nazi's in them.

Also it was stated that because 'safeguards are being eroded', you might not go off of a website like stormfront because you do not mind playing as Hanz Mit Der Flammenwerfer in some game.

But the birth of a meme, the absolute beginning. "There you are, playing a game, and all of a sudden bam you're a Nazi, you did not ask for this" is golden. I mean, you did buy the game.

You know what I would rather have seen ? This guy showing us cheap ways to implement a cheap protection or tester against these things. I mean the "USB Killer Tester" pretty much looks like a SMD Keramic Condensator and 2 wires that come out of it ( see 1:45 of this vid and https://youtu.be/MW1mk68YdJM )

Nothing against this YouTuber but I imagine that a lot of children watch his stuff. I mean, remember when Linus Tech Tips talked about this too ?

... Well in the very least I now have more reasons to X-ray USB devices. Unless if that is somehow bad for their data.
