@_@ Wait, so let me get this straight... there was a pretty massive argument on here today over whether or not people should go to broNYcon because *le gasp* there might be pictures taken? For serious? I certainly can't be the only one who realizes that anything and everything can and will be completely stereotyped, carved up, repackaged and sold, used for ill intent, and otherwise be distributed in whatever ways that the worst people on the planet can dream up, regardless of anything you attempt to do to prevent it, right? Attempting to hide away only makes their attacks stronger. Yeah, we like ponies. It's a good show and there's an amazing community that's come out of it. Pull up a chair, join us. If people want to profit off of us, so be it. If they want to drag us through the mud, prove them wrong by example. This is quite silly.

@abigpony From reading through what I saw of the conversation, seemed to be because KYM would be there, and they profit off of memes etc, which Cabal doesn't like, but even further, Anonymous doesn't like them, so would use what they found (or they would feed Anon) against bronies as a whole, or something. It seemed to get sidetracked into a few separate conversations discussing freedom of speech, profiting off of the work of others, and the slings and arrows of stereotypes. *shrug* The biggest fear I saw in a bunch of the posts was that press = bad because it could be used against us. To which I generally hold the opinion of "so?"

@abigpony I would expect her to want to bring as many people as possible there, as she's spending quite a lot of her own cash to make it happen and not only wants it to be as awesome as possible, wants to share it with as many as possible, but also wants to make back that money and profit if at all possible. I completely empathize, although I also very much agree that she's a bit over zealous with pushing it and that could very well backfire on her, as it seems to be doing a bit. I know a lot of people who are fed up with her because she seems to attempt to make everything revolve around her. *shrug* As to the KYM crew, they're no eBaum's World, at least. Bronies aren't particularly a meme as much as they are a subculture with memes-a-plenty of its own. But they can sort and organize as they see fit. And Anonymous can do their worst. A large portion of us came from them.
