    1. @ceruleanspark Why's that? Were you having fun, or was it helping you take your mind off of something?

      1. @pinhooves We did weapons training for the first time, and I got to practise fighting with a pair of mock-shortswords. I'm really good at it, and the instructor said I was a natural. I've never been good at anything physical before, and I'm super happy that the one thing I would turn out to be good at would be something as badass as swordsmanship.

          1. @pinhooves Yeah. I've never been complimented on any sort of physical thing before, so it makes a big difference to me.

    2. @ceruleanspark Is Kickboxing fun? I've never done it, but I've done Krav, which I understand are quite similar!

      1. @everypony Yes, I really enjoy it. I've been doing it over a year now. I'm allegedly a green belt. I've fought and lost a couple of tournaments. Last night we did weapons training for the first time.

        1. @ceruleanspark Like a baws! Weapons are the cherries! My favorites are knife disarms and use!

          1. @everypony Twin bamboo and or plastic shortswords last night. Going through the first 5 strikes and blocks in sequence.

            1. @ceruleanspark Nice! I've never done swords! Not very likely to find one on a battle field, or in a parking lot for that matter!

              1. @everypony The strikes are mostly strikes with the blade, rather than thrusts, which would be just as effective if you performed them with a blunt object. There are other weapons that are more likely to improvise, but our instructor isn't qualified (or insured) to teach them. He's good to teach Nunchucks and he's just got certified for the swords.
