@conventrix Italy certainly has a charm, but the language I've never much liked. German on the other hand, that offers a pleasant sound, especially when sung with. Conversationally, Mid-Eastern European languages can sound less romantic, but in song they amend it!

I love playing a Cleric in D&D. Not only do I always end up tanking and dealing damage and healing AND smoothing over our problems with diplomacy, but I usually end up saving everyone's flank. And then I take the majority cut of the profits whether everyone likes it or not :3
-
@communistprime It's certainly one of the most interesting character classes. There are so many ways to develop and play a cleric. I'm more in other systems, but if I get the chance to play D&D again, I'll play a Cleric of Tyr or Lathander.
-
@hakupony Yeah! We're playing a rather specific campaign, so I can't do a lot of stuff...like, there are no deities, so I just kinda focus my divine powers from, uh...something. Am planning on predesignating to this homebrew class in two levels though >:D (DM approved too!) http://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Void_Knight_%283.5e_Prestige_Class%29
-
@communistprime Are you interested in playing a campaign in a chatroom (or something like that)? Derpyshy wants to get into P&P so I decited to start something online.
-
@hakupony I could! Always up for more D&D, just need a date, time and program. Would like a reliable DM too, just to be safe so I don't get vested in someone that I'll use for two sessions or something :p
The white void likes this. -
@communistprime I've not much experiences with D&D, but I'll ask a friend who does and he also would be interested. Do you think 3 players and a GM are enough? I guess, we'll have enough problems to find a shared time to play now. What time is it where you live?
-
@hakupony You usually want at least a 4 player party, otherwise the encounters have to be pretty scaled down to not be too difficult. Right now, 4:17am.
-
@communistprime 11:17 for us other three.
-
@hakupony AM or PM? I couldn't stay up this late too much, so it may not work out :p I'm pretty sure you're in Europe, right?
-
@communistprime AM. Yes, I'm from Germany (as well as my friend), derpyshy is from Norway
-
@darkw00d nerthos speaks spanish, but here, we all speak english so everyone does understand. Ich schreibe hier ja auch nicht auf deutsch, weil das kein Schwein verstehen würde. :P
-
@hakupony I figured, noticed both of ya'll talking about European stuff. Whatever that means, I'm tired...anyways, maybe can work out if it's in the morning for me and evening for you guys, but we'd have to talk about it. For now, I sleep!
-
@communistprime Don't force yourself into it. If you want to play, you are welcome. Sleep well.
-
@darkw00d The value of a human is not determined by skill. In addition, if my first language was english, I would not be as eager to learn another language. I personally think that I can't expect anypony outside German, Austria and Switzerland to talk German because German is unnecessary complicated and doesn't even sound that cool (like Spanish).
-
@conventrix What a wonderful analogy.
-
@conventrix My girlfriend (A NY Italian) thinks German is a beautiful language. I however, agree with you.
-
@darkw00d Great, a language for pretentiousness. In Spanish, everything sounds awesome. You could say "I'm going to the toilet" and it would sound awesome. In addition, half of south Ameria speaks it.
-
@darkw00d But since you seem to like German, I have to ask: what music do you like?
-
@conventrix North or South Italy?
-
@conventrix Yeah, I know you are. That's why I thought her heritage was relevant. She kind of has this germany obsession though. She is whatever the german equivelant of wapanese is.
-
@conventrix Speaking as a non-Italian, I like both languages, but find German easier to get my head round due to its closer shared ancestry with English. Italian is a much more poetic language, though, for what it's worth.
-
@conventrix Wish there! You're insulting a race of people all at once, I hope you know!
-
@darkw00d If it was the same stuff I liked, I could have presented you something from over here.
-
@rosenrot A race? Interesting term you used there.
-
@hakupony Not really, it's a pretty fitting translation of the German term which (more verbosely, for the purpose of being unambiguous) could translate as "group of people who share a nationality".
-
@hakupony I figure, a nationality rather? Apologies, English isn't my first language, I had trouble thinking of which word to use.
-
@rosenrot No problem. I hooked in because I didn't want to interpret things you didn't want to say.
-
@bitshift what term exactly?
-
@hakupony No worries! And let there be little concern for what I believe you had interpreted, for I am Jewish!
-
@conventrix England confirmed for most classy location.
Bit Shift likes this. -
@hakupony "Nationalität", unsurprisingly. "Nationality" would (obviously) be the closest term, but "race" is an entirely valid translation, and (at least within the bounds of my limited knowledge) probably the one a German speaker learning English would be taught first.
-
@conventrix Y'mean the people that reported the death of "Obama Bin Laden"? That fox news?
-
@conventrix We got some very classy people and some ... papayass. The main difference is that Germans tend to be rather grumpy.
-
@conventrix Well fancy that! We're too few and far spread to expect anything of this nature. Now to converse! What are you doing up so early?
-
@conventrix Credit me as having never denied it! I've certainly enjoyed Mambo Italiano... xD
-
@rosenrot If you like the language that much, I can suggest you listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aBPQJ9q3UQ&feature=related It's something between poesy and music
-
@bitshift No, a german would learn "nationality", because there is the german term "Rasse" which was used in that way - in the 3rd Reich.
-
@conventrix Not really, there are countries where drinking is much more common. Russia is infamous for that arount here. On the other hand... Bavaria.
-
@conventrix Sorry, I'm not on good terms with Italian. Something about a moon mare I'd figure? :3 Care to provide translation?
-
@hakupony That was rather impressive! I've always been partial to the violin. The song reminds me of the group Blue October.
-
@conventrix I'll never get to school at this rate! xD
-
@rosenrot Oh, I love Blue October
-
@rosenrot There is some awesome music arount and I can provide much more stuff that didn't make it to international fame :)
-
@flaredancer Well than we'll be lovely friends! I've often performed their music... its quite a crazy vocal range!
-
@hakupony As plenty as there is, only some can be a country's face.
-
@conventrix You're right xD it is excellent!
-
@conventrix Ha! xD A friend came by and we played some guitar and piano! Had ourelf a good old fashioned "jam sesh"
-
@conventrix I know no such country...
-
@flaredancer Yeah, that I can understand. Sorry for the week long delay xD #laterreply
-
@rosenrot Heh It's fine =^.^=
-
@flaredancer I'm just terrible at this... So a favorite song by them? :D
-
@rosenrot At the moment, HRSA.
