  1. Well... Skyrim got boring fast.

    1. @silverwing One hundred and forty three mods say otherwise.

      1. @flamingpandaomg I just started playing it for the second time (last time my computer had to be restarted so I lost it all in the reboot) and I'm just so bored playing it all over again. But yeah, Vanilla, early beginning... very boring.

        1. @silverwing If you want me to I can update my Steam Workshop mod collection and send a link so you can download a crapton of mods without having to nitpick.

          1. @flamingpandaomg Nah. My computer probs won't be able to handle more than, like, 4 pretty small ones. Plus I like slogging through the Nexus.

            1. @silverwing I have a lot added and my computer's far from great. Skyrim runs better on this than modded Oblivion did, oddly enough.

              1. @flamingpandaomg My computer has a problem with Skyrim mods. I guess it likes Fallout as much as I do. That is, Fallout New Vegas is the only game that I can have a bunch of mods on without getting destroyed.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:30:13 UTC from web
                1. @silverwing I need to get around to modding FO3 / NV since I have them both installed finally. Have any recommendations?

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:30:53 UTC from web
                  1. @flamingpandaomg Well, Fallout 3 can be pretty temperamental so allz I have is "Improved Charon". But I'd recommend Fallout Wanderer's Edition. It deals with a lot of the glitches and content and add a bunch of cool things. For New Vegas I'd recommend Project Nevada. It's made by the guys who made Wanderer's Edition. Other than that, there are just way too many good ones to choose from, you'd have to see for yourself.

                  2. @flamingpandaomg if you haven't played through either, I reccomend setting g up a tale of two wastelands. that way you can have New Vegas's improved game engine with 3's great story, then be able to take all your stuff between the two worlds.

                    1. @techdisk I've played through FO3, and I think I finished NV. Hard to remember because that was a LONG time ago.

                    2. @techdisk I tried that once. Didn't work at all.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:38:25 UTC from web
                  3. @flamingpandaomg For NV get chinese reinforced stealth armor and pipboy readius , new vegas bounties, xv sharl armour, dr dt rr cap remover, veronica facial hair and the mateba model 6. The game is solid enough not to need many mods

                    1. @nerthos uh... Veronica facial hair?

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:40:38 UTC from web
                      1. @flamingpandaomg Yeah. Best mod.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:40:59 UTC from web
                        1. @nerthos is the mod author's name Veronica or does it actually add facial hair to an NPC named Veronica?

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:42:04 UTC from web
                          1. @flamingpandaomg The latter

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:43:18 UTC from web
                      2. @flamingpandaomg Paraphrasing TOP, "It's like 'staches were created just so that Veronica could wear one"

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:41:43 UTC from web
                    2. @nerthos Out of those I'd only recommend New Vegas Bounties and the rest of the Someguy Series.

                      1. @silverwing This makes me wish that the Steam Workshop was available for FO3 / NV'

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:42:42 UTC from web
                        1. @flamingpandaomg I wish. But yeah, maybe Fallout 4 will have it. But they really should have it. Would be a lot easier than using the Nexus.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:43:15 UTC from web
                          1. @silverwing I use a mix of the SW and the Nexus Mod Manager for Skyrim, and it can handle FO3/NV as well, so it'll be okay I guess.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:43:48 UTC from web
                          1. @nerthos Nothing can beat the ease of use of the Steam Workshop though.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:44:31 UTC from web
                            1. @flamingpandaomg The NMM lets you automate the installation process for most mods. Plus it lets you download the mod directly, being able to save it in your hard drive as opposed to being dependant on Steam.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:45:53 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos I've used NMM for a whopping one day and I've only used it for mods that are only on the Nexus. It doesn't seem bad but I still prefer the Steam Workshop if possible.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:47:10 UTC from web
                                1. @flamingpandaomg Workshop is much easier to work with.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:49:03 UTC from web
                                  1. @silverwing a lot easier on the eyes.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:49:22 UTC from web
                          2. @nerthos Yes. But it can be pretty hard to work the modding aspect of it, especially when NOT using NMM.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:44:48 UTC from web
                            1. @silverwing Most mods, except a few overcomplecated ones, are just a matter of decompressing to the data folder

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:46:41 UTC from web
                              1. @nerthos Well, most of the time I use it, it doesn't work out too well.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:48:23 UTC from web
                                1. @silverwing Weird. The only time I actually had issues when manually working with mods was a bunch of years ago with oblicion, but the fault was on my part by installing too many and overlapping files.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:50:24 UTC from web
                                  1. @nerthos That's probably my problem too. I get one mod, check if it doesn't crash the game, get another, make sure, get another and then CRASH. Also, whenever I try to mod Textures it doesn't work.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:51:50 UTC from web
                                    1. @silverwing I download everything in batches without intending to, then when things crash I disable 10-25 at a time and narrow it from there.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:52:31 UTC from web
                                      1. @flamingpandaomg I don't use even close to that amount of mods. I use about 10. Or I did.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:53:33 UTC from web
                                    2. @silverwing Mod textures in which way?

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:52:35 UTC from web
                                      1. @nerthos Like change them. There are hundreds of mods that change texture for this or for that, but none of them work.

                                        2. @silverwing They do. The file structure for texture mods is Data>textures>[clutter/architecture/etc]. It's mirrored from that of the compressed BSAs. Just decompress the mod and set the game to load loose files if it doesn't by default.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:58:34 UTC from web
                                          1. @nerthos I've just given up on them. I've tried probably a thousand time and it's failed each time.

                                            1. @silverwing Well if you ever want to try again I could stream a short tutorial on how to install them.

                                              1. @nerthos We'll see. I've gotten bored of New Vegas, so I'm playing some Fallout 3. No mods for that, really, it's too temperamental.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 08:01:39 UTC from web
                                                1. @silverwing I can agree on that. I'm using a bunch though, like a weapon pack that ports weapons from older fallout games, the virtualized storage system and the must-have killable children mod, without which I couldn't make it past little lamplight.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 08:03:10 UTC from web
                                                  1. @nerthos It was really easy to get past Lamplight. Just get the child at heart perk. Also, I have mannequins in my house.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 08:04:15 UTC from web
                                                    1. @silverwing No, the quests and all were really easy, the patience to stand the npcs was the issue. I tend to make it past that part by putting a bullet in mcready's head and waiting for the dogs to open the door to attack me.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 08:06:32 UTC from web
                      2. @silverwing I like the cap remover since it doesn't make any sense to wear power armour and be harmed by an unarmed junkie.

    2. @silverwing yeah, I lost interest in Skyrim pretty quick. mods do help, but...

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:24:49 UTC from web
      1. @techdisk I thought it was going to be like Fallout... That is, a game I wouldn't be able to stop playing. But it's just so boring in comparison.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:26:09 UTC from web
        1. @silverwing yeah, I played skyrim before playing Fallout, and I did enjoy Skyrim, but after losing interest I played fallout new Vegas and wow.

Tuesday, 24-Dec-13 07:29:05 UTC from web
          1. @techdisk I played Fallout 3 and New Vegas before even looking at Skyrim, except for hearing about it at school. I really don't think Elder Scrolls compares to Fallout at all.
