  1. Very happy with # - did a few more tests and I can already see that with a bit more practice I can be very efficient with this program. Next up: # - which I find is actually in the Fedora repos (hope it's in Debian, too!): I checked the features list and they mention it can open JPG and PNG as well as RAW files, so it's at least a candidate.

    1. @mk I'll also need ExifTools, of course (and maybe a GUI for it, though I like to make scripts for it, too). And XnView - which although not FLOSS I find indispensible.

      1. @mk First impressions: # has a near-overwhelming amount of tools and options but that comes at a heavy 'cost': it's far less user-friendly than #, and has some curious omissions in UI configurability: e.g., no way to set thumbnail size for the browser, leaving me with two columns of thumbnails and a large blank area next to it. It's also far less friendly for smaller screens like that on laptop Dennis: LZ's tools in the right sidebar take up far less space. And I don't like the idea of having to use diferent applciations on different machines: I need to be able to do at least some editing work on the move. So: hmmmm :(

        1. @mk it gets worse: after editing an image in # I wanted to save it as a TIFF - but it does not actually appear in the output directory even though its internal file dialog shows the file to be there when I try again - I'm left with noly the original image and #'s processing instructions # :*(

          1. @mk well, I managed to export/save the edited image after all - very unintuitive and I had to rename/move it afterwards, too. Still, why does # show the output image as existing in a directory when it actually doesn't?

            1. @mk It seems to lack almost any documentation /manual? Or did you overlook sth? - Maybe a single programer's project?

              1. @kuro I think there's a manual online at least. Certainly no integrated help (or I have overlooked (cont) http://tl.gd/n3pcnp

        2. @mk well, at least I found *buttons* in # to increase/decrease thumbnail size (that's something) - but no setting. UI confuses by using the same icon for different things, even when visible at the same time; and some things are found in odd places (my eyes automatically go down to look for status during an action but there is no statusbar). And there is no menu, hence no clear "exit point" either. #
