  1. @luke definitely - and both Facebook and Twitter insist on serving their users ads (no way to pay to opt out); but running a server costs real money - is there any SN/Gs server out there that uses ads just to cover costs?

    1. I know only the legadolibre SN which has # (and that makes it unattractive to me, though with a SN client that would be solvable)

      1. ... oh, and # users also mentioned that their users should de-block some ads :-(

      2. @erkanyilmaz first of any instance I hear about that has ads - but what's your choice if you need the ads to be able to run it at all? If that's the case I'd tolerate some ads it they are not too obnoxious and clearly marked

        1. A "normal" user can run e.g. on # a SN for herself, e.g. @eric does that since 7 months # And if someone wants to run a # SN (offering accounts there), I think ads are not a good way, e.g. I run a ad-blocker, I wonder how much money one really gets. Better would be to ask the users # for # In the end, personally: I don't like #
