in order to understand how samba deals with file & directory permissions, I just found I will also have to familiarize myself with *masks*. ugh. #networking #study #busyday :)

@mk not that difficult. I'm not sure if Samba only calls it Masks but then just use the trusted 755 or 2755 style notation

@mcscx the point is not so much the mechanics as the concept! I've never quite 'gotten' masks until now. It's not only samba, of course, but masks do play a role, so I'd better understand what that role is :) #networking
