@shred316 Kik is a messaging app for smart phones (Windows 7, iPhone, and Andriod, at least). It's pretty awesome because you can Kik people outside the country without any extra cost and there's no character limit.

@flaredancer It's a neat little service Skype offers. You buy some credit and set it up through the skype site. You nominate a number, and Skype basically give you a "Proxy local landline" to call. When you call that landline, it routes the call out to whoever you were /really calling/ at the cost of a local call plus a little skype credit. It's amazing if you have a plan that gives you a certain type of free minutes. I can call my girlfriends cell in new york, from my cellphone, in england, for essentially free.

@flaredancer It's insanely convenient. It means a lot to me to be able to just call my girlfriend whenever. Our relationship doesn't stop when I go away from a computer now.

@ceruleanspark I could imagine. @Noirbatch and I don't really have that problem, though, since we live in the same country. Most cell carriers don't even bother with long distance, so all that matters is how many minutes we have vs. how many we use.
