    @lnxw48 yes, I'm doing things like that... and I have now a configuration file that doesn't work. I can no longer log into phpMyAdmin. :(

        @mk and... phpMyAdmin set up, I can login and I see no more grumbles. Now to create a database and user for WP and then I can start writing, I hope!

        @mk OK, I have a database for Wordpress, and a special database user for that, and given that users all privileges for that database only (i.e. only for WP usage). #! time for some food!

          @mk well I give up for today: database and Db user created, and I can login as that user in phpMyAdmin. But WP cannot connect to the DB server. I cannot figure out why. :-( time for my #!
