@chalkahlom everything looks OK in our building (but it was pretty scary at times!); I posted a photo of what happened in our neighborhood - scroll a bit back. Toll is one dead, several wounded of which 1 or 2 heavily wounded. Damage enormous.
-
@mk I completely missed all that. How awful.

@mcnalu in the street behind ours there are big trees - I'm going to have look there #tomorrow - I definitely did not consider going out at any time today. I just checked on my balcony a few times to prevent that things went flying (and possibly dropping on someone's head). None of that, at least - just some broken planters and leaves and dirt I can clear up #tomorrow. It's quiet here now, now the North of the country is having fun...
-
@mk I'm glad you're OK. Trees falling can cause frightening damage.
-
@mcnalu thanks - so am I - I'm on the top floor here and several trees in our street are considerably higher than that but the direction of the wind helped limit damage here. I'm sure there will be a lot of fallen branches in the street behind us... I'll go and have a look yesterday (carefully - loose branches sometimes hang in tree until something shakes them loose)!

@mcnalu @chalkahlom @deavmi @jonkulp This photo illustrates what I mean by trees bending over - and these are relativeky young trees: now imaging mature trees bending over even more than these! http://www.nufoto.nl/fotos/564335/stevige-wind-in-haarlem.html
