    Coworker asked me to look at his Windows laptop because it has a virus. I don't even want to plug it n ! Maybe I'll look at cleaning it from a chroot session. Or maybe System Rescue CD (or the like) has a virus scanner that works from a live session. I'll go look.

      @nybill I usually use AdwCleaner & Combofix (after image backup), IMHO most effective. Non-GPL though, so # alternatives appreciated

        @mcscx Nice, thanks. I'll check those out. However I already hit a brick wall. Seems he shut down Win8 into hibernate mode. I can't mount NTFS (or I read, if I really try, I'll mess it up). So, I'll give it back to him and have him shut it down cleanly.
