After all that work, it turns out that some of the holes I had drilled weren't straight and that threw everything off just beyond the tolerances I had to work with in enough places to make it not work. Even with a level on the drill and a careful eye kept on it, that thick of metal was too much to make it easy, and a drill press was pretty much necessary.
Using U-bolts would've made everything easier, except I needed countersinking on the wall side to prevent the need to drill dozens of holes into my wall.
I guess I'll just have to toss all the steel, wood, and aluminum I'd worked so hard to work on. A lot of time and money down the drain.-
Maybe I could get some wall mount brackets for threaded rods and a die to tap the ends of those SS rods, mount them to the wood that way.

Those dies for stainless steel are ridiculously expensive.

I think I have a plan of attack that'll reuse most of what I bought, with tons of unused holes.

The plan will involve using ⅜" bolts instead of those puny #6 bolts, so I could probably move to stainless steel without compromises.
