  1. @sakrecoer @moonman @delores @lainonymoose I  don't find the terms "left wing" and "right wing" particularly useful in many cases, but those are the most commonly used terms in the west.

    1. @dolus They are incredibly outdated terms, and in most cases don't actually portray most of the people they're used to describe. For example many would call gender activists "left wing" but put them in a place that is actual left like soviet russia and they won't last a day. Same with what people on the internet call "right wing" which has degenerated into "anyone who isn't what we call progressive". By this point we have a 3D spectrum of political ideologies instead of the old 1D one.

That is true. Besides, left and right-wing are too broad to have any real meaning now. Also, I think places like what the UK calls them is different to the US, it doesn't work worldwide. I think we can start using better terms to help better understand the positions people have. It also sucks when people overuse and alter word meanings so they hold less power and meaning compared to before.

        1. @sim That's another valid point. In each country, what's widely accepted as left and right can be diametrally different from the same definitions in another country. I always say that in my country there's no real right, yet you'll see people calling certain politicians "right wing" even though they'd be considered moderate left in say, USA.

I agree. In my country, it is all authoritarian socialism. I think the main party differences is how they handle the economy. Labour think they can spend us into a better economy which gets us into more debt. The conservatives think cutting back on spending in certain areas will get us a better economy, and people hate that because people have become so reliant on government aid. What a trick. I don't think there is a right-wing main party here.
