I especially disagree about the part where they essentially say that "everyone must have the exact same client support" (like audio/video chat etc.). My preferred XMPP client is irssi through bitlbee, I don't _want_ audio/video functionality - I don't care that someone who wants to call me can't do it because I wouldn't answer anyway.

That's about the stupidest thing I've ever read from someone like Moxie. What does he call _users_ if not uncertain? If I don't answer the call someone makes - how is that any different from not being able to accept it?!-
@hfaust furthermore: "Nobody really wants to run their own servers" <- EXCEPT THOSE THAT DO (like those who actually have something to protect)

@mmn Apparently the blog was born as a result of people who forked Signal to use it without having the Google dependency, Moxie showed up in a conversation about adding the application to F-Droid. He said he wasn't OK with the fork using the servers of Signal, so people said they were going to use their own server and ask him if they could federated with the existent ones. He refused because he will not have control of them.
