  1. I need a new monitor but it actually has to be a fairly small one to fit into my existing system, no larger than 20-21 inches if it has a center stand.  Anyone have recommendations?

    1. @maiyannah If vertical space isn't an issue, I'm using a viewsonic vx924 and have absolutely no complaints about it.

      1. @nerthos No, but it has to fit with an already large primary monitor, it's replacing a smaller secondary monitor.  The existing monitor is 18.5" but there's probably about a couple inches of play there.

        1. @nerthos Wouldnt be a concern at all if I could wall mount them but because I cant in my rental unit I have to contend with what fits on me desk.

        2. @maiyannah Well this one is 19" but being 5:4 there's more than enough display space. About 1110cm2 of screen surface.

          1. @nerthos I'll see if it or an equivalent is kicking around in local shops.

          2. @nerthos I'm not terribly bothered, I'm not gaming on it usually, I usually have GS and a few other things going in chrome on this one and then a game on the main monitor.
https://community.highlandarrow.com/attachment/31881  (sorry, cant merge with the wall to pull it any further back.)

Either monitor can probably more more to it's respective side.   The smaller HP I've had for yonks and it's finally starting to give up the ghost.  The 1366x768 it is at was a bloody high res when it was around, if that dates it any.

            2. definitely get a 5:4 for that, rotate it to be vertical if you only use it for web browsing

                1. a vertical monitor is amazing for stuff like that, and the 5:4 ratio is square enough for it to actually have some width (compared to a 16:9, which feels cramped when vertical)

                    1. i use a dell, it was extremely cheap and hasn't seen any problem. good luck finding a good one, though

            3. @maiyannah Well the one I'm using would be perfect for that as it would be only slightly less wide than the one you have there but considerably taller, so it'd be all around better for browsing. Optimal resolution for it is 1280x1024 though so if you're one of those 4k fanatics it won't be good for you, but it should otherwise be fine.

              1. @nerthos It might match up with the other much bigger monitor height wise and alleviate my mild OCD about such things then.  This could only be a plus.

                1. @nerthos The other monitor is an off-2K res so I'm not worried.

                2. @maiyannah Counting the base, it's about an inch taller than a standard CPU case, to give you an idea.

                  1. @nerthos Well I plan on going shopping tomorrow before the physio for me leg so I'll see if I can find that or an equivalent newer model in one of the stores.

                    1. @maiyannah Good luck then! I got this one second hand for uuuh... about us$100 I think? The only issue I had was that over the years some capacitors got damaged and it'd display image weirdly until it died, but it was just a matter of opening it and replacing them, which wasn't hard. That issue was probably fixed in the newer models. And in any case knowing which ones are damaged is a matter of looking for swollen tips and the codes for each are in plain view.

                      1. @nerthos Oh man I made enough money off that one run of intel motherboards that had bad caps that this wouldn't bother me at all.
