This game is going to die, and it's going to die relatively young for a game, and they know it, and want to milk as much as they can out of people before it does.
This is what their business model communicates to me.-
@maiyannah Microtransactions are a no-no from the start anyway

@nerthos I tolerate them in otherwise free games where they do not annoy me, but 'tolerate' is not 'like'.
-
@maiyannah They are an invariably bad thing and can only be justified in f2p games or when they're for purely cosmetic/inconsequential things like in GW2. They cannot be justified in a paid multiplayer shooter as there's no huge server maintenance cost or anything.

@nerthos Agreed. In this case its blatantly exploitative.
-
@maiyannah Blizzard has been bad for the last ten years anyway. Gone is the cool company that made warcraft 3 or diablo 2.

@nerthos I feel like the only person on earth who thought Warcraft 3 was FrankerZ.
-
@maiyannah Probably. I don't know anyone else who disliked it. I'd go to cybercafes with my classmates in midschool between classes to play that with eachother.

@rw @nerthos It was the beginning of Blizzard leaning on style to carry the fact it's substance was waning, something that carried through to Diablo 3 and later WOW expansions.
-
@maiyannah Well it was certainly less serious than the previous ones, but it was still really good.
