  1. I can understand both positions really. A contract is a contract, but then again if I for example worked as a doctor, I would refuse to treat a criminal wounded in a shootout with the police. This isn't much different. I wouldn't argue about being discharged or replaced for that particular action either.

    1. @nerthos *shrug* Don't like the contract, don't enter into it, it really is as simple as that to my mind.  The problems arise when things get changed (such as gay marriage being introduced as mentioned) or, and this is sadly common, they don't tell you about "gotchas" or other similar.  I do not feel honour-bound to uphold a contract someone has been dishonest with me regarding.

      1. @maiyannah I agree completely. Specially in the last part. I always say that despite having two nationalities, I'm not honour bound to serve either as they made me swear loyalty when I was a kid and didn't properly understand the implications of any of it. Any dishonesty in presenting a contract or oath makes it invalid.

        1. @nerthos I am a woman of my word, but that honour is something I allow be used as a weapon to injure me in such a way.

          1. @maiyannah It's important to understand that. Honour is a shield, not an iron maiden. It shouldn't ever be allowed to hurt the person who upholds it, and all restrictions are void when someone is trying to take advantage of it.

            1. @nerthos If I falter, that's on me.  If you try to MAKE me falter, that's on you.  It is an important distinction, and a lot of people with vested interests often refuse to distinguish it.
