dogs, however, are mans best friend. we were once great enemies but began to work alongside one another. they pick up on how you feel, and use their greater senses to assist us. -
@delores Cats do that too without being annoying and barking. My cat even helps me hunt stuff. I've caught a rabbit with the cat's help, without any saliva or damage on it. Dogs are an annoyance, destructive, smelly, and ugly. Not graceful and soft like cats.

can you tell your cat to come to you, stay in place, then retrieve your prey? or do you just let it roam around and attempt to steal your food before you praise it for being "graceful?" -
@delores The cat tired it and then chased it to where I was, so I could grab it and put it in a bucket. But a dog peasant wouldn't understand.

@nerthos there are tons of "texture packs" for it that replace the letters with sprites. recently stonesense has also become a thing, which is even better, as it lets you play the game in isometric 3d, or just keep it on the side as a read-only view (the default). it's included in the Lazy Newb Pack

@gameragodzilla My cats usually have a filled bowl of food in an easy to access place, but since there's a lot of trees and such they stay in shape.

@nerthos Yeah my uncle lives in China so he doesn't let her out of the apartment for fear of getting run over.
So she just lounges in the house all day sleeping and eating. -
@gameragodzilla Oh, yeah, inside cats need to follow a diet. If you take away nature from them they go from very low maintenance to extremely high maintenance as you have to provide them entertainment, exercise, mental challenges, and a lot of other things they'd get on their own if allowed to roam around. If you want a pet to be inside all day you're better off with a frog or lizard. Cats get fat and whimsical when stuck inside, and dogs destroy everything. They're not made for interiors.

@maiyannah I had some great dogs but over the years started getting tired of the species, so nowadays I only like very rare individuals. I had one that was basically dog mom when I was a kid, and another that was the wittiest animal in town and wouldn't eat at home due to being fat on meat he'd get from roaming the city.

@maiyannah @nerthos @delores Breed also has an awful lot to it, I've seen a dog that happened to be a gun dog breed jump up and pluck a flying bird right out of the air before walking over and handing it to the nearest person without a single mark on the bird and with bugger all training for him to do any of that.

Haha. I'm not entirely sure what the differences are between them both. Except that you can easily train a dog, and they are more dependent on you. Cats are great though, my cat lets me know what he wants like my dog once did. He likes being petted. That reminds me, we have a kitten now... he's adorable. I think cats are a little harder to understand so they get a bad reputation. -
@sim They are. And they also have drastically different personalities from one to another, and only will cooperate if they trust and choose you. Once they do though, they're amazing companions, and I value them a lot because of how special that is. If a cat follows you is because you've earned it. If you learn about your cat, you'll often know exactly what he or she wants. They even understand mechanisms and fluid physics, one of mine noticed the toilet was stuck on releasing water and made noise to let us know and stop it, before it overflowed, and also knew the door was operated with a key, so whenever she wanted to go out she'd make noise with the key. Another was hungry so she grabbed the jar where the food is and tried to twist the cap off, since it's screw rather than pressure based. Cat figured that out just by seeing humans open it by twisting.

Definitely clever. My cat already knows how to open the back door, and how to get to his food. But yeah, you can definitely feel like you've earned your cats trust. Just bonding can be fun. -
@fl0wn I can't look at chihuahuas. I have no idea what their personalities are like, but their faces resembling a piece of leather stretched over a skull straight out of a b class horror movie put me off.
