        1. @miki I’m just happy for you, that you can play games all night. I wish my PSU was alive.

            1. @miki It's basically a battery for your desktop computer. It's for keeping the computer from burning out on a power surge, or turning off instantly in a power outage.

              2. @tijagi @miki Oh, you guys call the built in power supply PSU? over here it's the external ones with a battery that are called that, not the internal ones.

                1. @nerthos @miki
                  PSU = power supply unit
                  UPS = uninterruptable power source (a surge protector with a battery)

                  1. @maiyannah Guess the translations back and forth I go through whenever I talk about computers in english makes it confusing for me regarding which is which in english.

                    1. @nerthos To be fair, PSU could actually refer to the computer's power supply internally, or an external power supply unit.

                      It's a sort of "blanket term", but usually, it is used to mean the internal unit.

                  > Oh, you guys call the built in power supply PSU?
                  Uh, on that part of the globe, yes. It’s even shorter in Slavic runes. I just don’t know the short term for the internal power supply in English. https://gs.smuglo.li/attachment/50476

                    1. @nerthos So there isn’t a shorthand for the internal PSU? Cause I’ve seen that term applied mostly to external ones, too.

                      1. @tijagi As far as english goes, I couldn't tell if there is. I have enough trouble keeping up with their obsession with using loose letters instead of words to name evertyhing
