  1. I have to say, federating was one of the best decisions I made. It used to be that every post followed the same line of political thought, but now I get at the same time posts from people with diametrally opposing views, many of which will explain theirs in reasonable and informed ways, so the experience is much better and less dull.

      1. @hfaust I never got active on twitter, but here it has always been almost unanimous "progressive left" and I like seeing all sides.

        1. @nerthos Probably because it was almost used by Free Software activists or enthusiasts, and then we came along. (Not that my political ideas differ from that, but that's another story)

          1. @hfaust It had nothing to do with that, as an MLP fansite it was incredibly gay. It still kind of is, but as people got older they also got less annoying and more reasonable.

            1. @nerthos I was talking about GNU Social/Statusnet in general, but I see your point.

              1. @hfaust Oh, I didn't federate until a few months ago when it was like it is now.

    2. @nerthos Do you have to enable federation on RDN?

      1. @delores No but you don't see the whole known network by default, you have to subscribe to other accounts, which I didn't do until this year.
