  1. Man, it sure is nice NOT having to work with a piano roll. I have no idea how so many people put up with this thing...

    1. @abigpony I make tons and tons of original music. I just tend to not release any of it. <_<

        1. @zarkanorf Because...like...where to put it, who even wants to listen...etc. I dunno? Not all of it's good, either, so there's that. ;p

          1. @sci tindeck is a great place to host your music, and don't worry about audience when you're first presenting your music~

            1. @zarkanorf yeah, I use tindeck for more of the sketchy stuff. But that's just a host. I still need a listener to give my tindeck link to. (usually from facebook.) oh hey look here's a perfect chance to link an original song I made to announce how I got a FACEBOOK !FACEBOOK # @FACEBOOK http://www.youtu.be/4pZFmt_6knQ

                  1. @sci I usually stick with the "share" link that Youtube gives, for example: http://youtu.be/7HyaaM0tB6k

                    1. @zarkanorf yeah that's what I meant. Also I'm pretty sure I've made a song similar to that...

                      1. @sci I'd like to hear it, lol. Also, this reminds me why we haven't heard something like "Through the Ghostie and Yays" or someone taking Dragonforce and using pony.

          2. @sci I've used sites like Soundclick and Bandcamp to host my stuff... when I was actually able to record stuff. And then a compilation of my old, crappy material I posted on the Internet Archive for some stupid reason.

            1. @rnbwdashiswin (whoops that above post was a tid spammy. oh well!) yeah soundcloud is where I put my more serious stuff. and then 8bc and newgrounds for WHATEVER. I'm getting a bandcamp as soon as I finish this secret EP...

    2. @sci The piano roll is quite possibly the least intuitive and useful way to create music. Even the people who were actually *making* piano rolls didn't generally look at the things.

      1. @starshine Nah, I'd say that manually entering notes through assembly would be the least intuitive way to write music. Because apparently that was a thing. That's how Tim Follin wrote his stuff, iirc.

        1. @sci Yup. Or MML, which is just about as arcane and complicated. For whatever reason that's still popular in the Japanese chiptune scene.

          1. @starshine oh yeah. mml. I looked in it's general direction once. never again.
