    1. @minti I've been feeling the urge to make a roguelike for a while now and I don't know why. D:

        1. @minti Well, yes. But my roguelike needs are more than satisfied by Brogue, so I'm not sure why I still feel like making one. :/

    3. @widget It's a subgenre of dungeon-crawler characterized by a number of things, chiefly random dungeon generation and permadeath. Most of them are either descended from, or partly inspired by the dungeon-crawler Rogue, hence the name.

    6. @widget Nethack is pretty much the defining example of a roguelike, yeah. (Though as I said, !Brogue is actually the one I most enjoy right now, and also the one I would recommend to newcomers to the genre.)

    7. @widget Yeah, death is permanent in Nethack. (Well, you can be saved from a single fatal thing by an amulet of life saving, but once you actually do die, that's it for that character.)
