  1. Some sites have been loading excruciatinly slow, while I know my connection isn't the issue as others download at line speed. I wonder if this is related to the amazon thing.

      1. @cyberpotato gs.smuglo.li is a good example of this for me, not sure if it's the same for others. It'll take like 5 minutes to load a gif.

        1. @nerthos @cyberpotato They have a pretty suboptimal setup performance-wise.

          1. @archaeme It's a new thing though. Only has happened for the last few days.

            1. @nerthos Could be a routing issue then.

                1. @maiyannah In smugloli's case, it's not down, it's just abysmally slow to load anything.

                  1. @nerthos DNS wont cause a site to not work, if its in your resolver cache, just take very long to load, b/c it will try to ping the DNS server and only when it doesn't respond, will it use the cached address.

                    1. @nerthos So basically every time you contact the site you're adding the time for the DNS server connection to time out to your connection times.

                    3. @maiyannah Initial response is fast, loading images and the like isn't. But I don't know enough about this to know if that's possible as well due to this or not.

                      1. @nerthos Sounds about right.  The initial lookup of the page will use cache, subsequent ones for images or other resources won't.  Why?  FrankerZ if I know, Browsers are stupid.

                        1. @maiyannah Guess I'll watch pics slowly load and reminisce about the dial up days until it goes back to normal.

                  1. @archaeme @nerthos They appear to have changed recently looking at historical records.  Which will help ... after the about 72 hours DNS propogandation takes.

              3. @archaeme No idea to be honest. Network stuff isn't my thing, too annoying and whimsical.
