@nepmango That's the reason they're bringing him back to D3 not knowing how to keep the game afloat. the Necromancer was the best.

@nerthos Diablo 3 is ... done? It's not a bad game, but it reached the content ceiling a long time ago. They'd need new actual content to do it. And so ... you get things like that.
Honestly they ought to just do another proper expansion if they care to keep it going. -
@nerthos @nepFrankerZ Mebbe they shouldn't have Potato Knishesed it so hard from the outset, all to jew up the game with the real money auction house they ended up having to remove.

@maiyannah Pretty much but they're too busy releasing crappy expansions for wow instead, even though D3 still has some breath left in it if they gave it more actual content.

@nerthos Demon hunter class is OK and Legion's new areas are pretty.
There, I have just said all the positive things I have to say about Legion.
Meanwhile Diablo III is actually somewhat ripe for expansion. Add in old character classes, areas we heard about but never went to, in previous games, or even just old areas that weren't revisited, like Travincal or Hell proper. But ... they want the quick and easy Potato Knishes. -
@maiyannah Yep. There's still most of Westmarch unexplored as well as much of the east, and they could make a main questline based on recovering travincal and fixing the zakarum that a lot of reaper of souls spoke about. As well as the whole recovering leah's soul thing that the main character would talk about all through act 5.

@nerthos Could, but probably won't. There's a few plot threads. They also hint at the necromancer's order or guild or whatever being messed up, so that'd be another one if they wanted something more "new"

@maiyannah Oh, yeah, the priests of Rathma. Without Trag'Oul and with Rathma himself not being hinted at any kind of activity, the status of the order is up in the air. A lot of things hint at it being the only somewhat working "guardians" of the place still up, but how much they've gone off the rails is not known. I assume at this point they're mostly led by the D2 necromancer.

@nerthos Yeah, and exploring that could be yet another angle they could explore with an expansion. As you were saying, Diablo still has a lot of potential content to cover, if they wanted to do a proper expansion.

@maiyannah But nope, let's leave Diablo to rust away while being the only franchise that both isn't completely eroded and hasn't had a recent release.

@maiyannah I completely agree. They're too far gone to grasp that, and they either think that players are idiots or that they love the brand, not the content. Or both. When the reason they got so popular in the first place is that 20-10 years ago they delivered good games.

@nerthos Modern Blizzard doesn't seem to have a comprehension of what made old Blizzard popular and well-regarded. Legion and Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm all show that they're just milking their goodwill because they don't understand that. IMO.

@nerthos It seems like companies, names, brands, get to a point where they're so popular people can't let go when they do start FrankerZting things up, so they have no impetus to keep being good. Do you think they'd keep churning out kind of tatty games, if people ran off immediately if it was kiwi? Naw, they try to convince themselves its not that bad, because they don't want to let go.

@maiyannah It's a problem in both sides: companies abuse that good will and trust, and customers give that for way too long. If a game is crap after five were good, yes, buy the next one hoping it was just a slip up. If that second game is bad too, more so if it's bad along the same line, don't buy a third and specially not on launch day, instead give it a few weeks until the hype cools down and you have unpaid reviews up for it and can know what you're dealing with. That both keeps your money safe and forces companies to deliver good stuff since a stall of two weeks on the sales boom of a game is an absolute monetary catastrophe.
