@deadsuperhero @strypey @kodo On a GNU social or postActiv instance look up /notice/1
For instance, we can here see quitter.se's first notice was on 12 Aug 2010
https://quitter.se/notice/1-
@strypey @kodo @deadsuperhero It's not unreasonable to infer the first notice is when the instance went up. We can probably write a script that does this for all the instances on fediverse.org at least.

@maiyannah a script for http://qttr.at/1c3p to display first post date would be great for telling people which instances are more stable

@strypey I agree. I am actually looking to retool that code into my own thing at some point. It's on my todo list.

@maiyannah @strypey @kodo @deadsuperhero Sometimes it doesn't work. Fpr SPC for example the first notice is appleposter.club/notice/6
-
@archaeme @strypey @kodo @deadsuperhero Yeah, but you can go until you hit the first available notice with a reasonable degree of assurance thats when the instance first went public.

@maiyannah @kodo @deadsuperhero does that mean quitter. se started as a #StatusNet or #FreeSocial site and migrated to #GNUSocial?
-
@strypey @kodo @deadsuperhero I believe, though you'd have to ask Hannes, that it started as a StatusNet node. I have been told that it was one of the neglected statusnet nodes when identica moved to pump and took on a lot of users.
