  1. Every time I hear the # voice-over break into the music I'm listening to I turn it off. I bet its really damaging them !ccmusic

    1. @strypey Years ago # had an Ubuntu-style promo where you could order glossy promo cards to distribute. I ordered some, saying as I can't afford to support their artists financially it was the least I could do. Guy in charge (forget name) basically called me a freeloader.

    2. @strypey I didn't notice the implication that their "try before you buy" policy from the start implied that "if you can't buy, you've no right to try". It's demoware culture, not # Never been back, and they haven't even thanked me for it.

      1. @mjd disillusioned idealists desperately trying to keep their start-up dream alive can be the grumpiest people in existence

        1. @mjd they're digging their own grave. Eventually some frustrated user will figure out how to vacuum up all their music and host it elsewhere

          1. @mjd their site is ancient too, I wouldn't pay their exorbitant license *without* the ability to suck down the entire library I paid for

          2. @strypey @mjd I never understood what they think they're gaining from it.

            1. @maiyannah @mjd it's like they think annoying people will make them give money, rather than just go elsewhere :P

              1. @mjd @maiyannah eg back to Jamendo, LibreFM, MixCloud, SoundCloud, YT yada yada. It's not like we're short of choices

        2. @strypey Not scarce or expensive any more: distribution. Still scarce: talent. Why do people providing the former think the value lies with them? Because #, I suppose.
