I can see why GOG would be incredibly preferable as a platform to release libre #videogames. I wonder also what itch.io is like.
I'm starting to see your fears as a symptom rather than a simple step in the wrong direction. If it's a legitimate fear that SuperTuxKart team will support a DRM-friendly platform and even start releasing code with a permissive license instead of the more protected GPL, there must be people in the leadership willing to compromise the values of software freedom.
I hope there are plenty of libre games developed by people who will make smarter decisions about the promotion of libre gaming.
