So I've now been tasked with finding a good laptop for my grandad... ahh. I need something that simply WORKS, can browse the internet and not die instantly, and with which he can deal with hundred of word and excel documents for his bowling club... I'm regarded the computer genius in my family but I'm completely bloody clueless compared to some people I know here... I still have no idea about internal processors or graphics cards

@purplephish20 If you can, a netbook would be a good choice, but that all depends if your grandad is fine with using a small screen. If not, then there should be some low-mid range laptops which work fine.
