@delores Well, it does make sense in a militaristic country to restrict welfare to servicemen.

@nerthos well yeah but its just kind of weird. like you basically have no choice but to sign up as an insurance measure but you could easily not know that you have to if you didn't get accepted into a college.

@delores That also fits in with the north american poor management reputation, not properly advertising a recruitment strategy.

@nerthos yes the military has just seemed like where high school dropouts go my entire life, no proper recruitment or pride

@delores I suppose that ended up being like that after the strong anti-military sentiment of the 70s, since that generation ended up in charge for the last few decades.
